for the longest time, i relied on some kind of crutch to make myself feel better about my skill level with drawing. whether it was studies or sketches, i never pushed myself to work on a project out of fear I wouldn't be happy with the result. predictable risk meant same results.

taking notes on hatching/linework for art that i like and then trying them in practice. i feel like art studies have been so great for understanding a different perspective or take, but i feel like it's difficult to balance copying the lines with absorbing the technique.

started a new challenge for myself to draw a scene every week. i feel like i need to start practicing the things i want to draw vs studying how to draw them. so with that being said... the scene of this week is a fight scene!

more 3 value portrait studies these studies are absolutely changing the game in how i view painting and drawing in general. the replication looks complex, but it's actually VERY doable, especially when starting with simpler shapes. can't reccomend these enough.
3 value portrait studies slowly starting to introduce another value into my portrait studies. i'm getting the hang of recognizing shapes and using them to draw the portraits. having a lot of fun painting these which is huge!! bc i hated painting!!
black and white value studies came across a youtube video that i'll link in a comment but kinda changed the game for me. reducing everything in an image to just black and white really helped train my eye to see just the essentials. will be doing these a LOT more.
value background study i actually really enjoyed doing this study. started by blocking out the darkest values and move upwards. also tried keeping the shapes as big as possible and progressively added detail as values got lighter. but how do i translate this to colors... #artstudy #background
I've always been the type to give up on something if I didn't have an innate knack for it. If it didn't make sense from the get go, I would lose interest and move on. That is, until I started drawing. I complain a LOT about things not making sense and about having to-
