There are still several rental starting pitchers available who improve the 2026 Cubs. I wouldn't complain about any. It's just that I'd prefer, at this point, post-Gausman, that the Cubs add someone who improves 2026 AND 2027+.

I love waking up to an avalanche of incredible highlights from around baseball, none of which are the Cubs.

four teams have had two stretches like this at any point in the same season, the 2017 Dodgers, 1987 Brewers, and 1930 Cardinals. The Brewers also did it the same way as the Cubs (a 20-3 record followed by a 2-14)
