Today I'm gonna share some amusing animal names in the Crimean Tatar language🤭
Language is a crucial part of identity — that’s why empires always destroy it first. Being able not only to use it but also to see it in the media is vital for small nations. Read the thread about what’s happening now with the only independent Crimean Tatar newspaper in Crimea 👇 #UkrainianView
It’s my birthday today ✨ Thank you for being with me this past year — for your support and for standing with me for Ukraine and Crimea. Here’s to victory and to celebrating the next birthday at home, in a free Crimea 🩵💛
#UkrainianView 1/3 Over the past week and a half in occupied Crimea: - russians have re-imprisoned a 57-year-old man with cancer. - russians have illegally detained four women, including a mother of many children.
Yesterday, the FSB abducted four Crimean Tatar women — Esma Nimetulaeva, Nasiba Saidova, Elviza Aliyeva, and Fevziye Osmanova. russia accuses them of “terrorism,” but in reality, it just intimidates and shows once again that it has no respect for human rights in occupied Crimea.
The tour across Czech cities presenting the film about Ukraine’s national communities has come to an end. As part of it, I also spoke about the life of the Crimean Tatar people today. I’m deeply grateful to Post Bellum and everyone involved in the project.
Tomorrow at 7 PM, I'll be at Skautský Institut in Prague 🇨🇿 to discuss Crimea – the current situation and our history. We'll also screen Rooted, a documentary about Ukraine's national communities filmed by Post Bellum Ukraine.
A building in my neighborhood in Kyiv has been damaged this night... I can't find words

Every few years I do a photoshoot to see myself through someone else’s eyes. I’ve changed since the last one, and it feels like time to update my profile pic too. Don’t lose me in your feed :)
The Post Bellum Czech team and I will be visiting several cities in the Czech Republic 🇨🇿 on October 6–10, presenting a documentary 'Rooted' about Ukraine's ethnic minorities and the indigenous #CrimeanTatar people. I will be happy to see you there!
I still can't comprehend how someone can be tried for treason by a country they're not a legal citizen of? Unfortunately, this absurdity is normal for russians. In January-June 2025, occupiers detained 24 people from #Crimea for 'treason'. It's a go-to charge to imprison anyone disliked.
Nothing is left of these landscapes today — the village where the movie was filmed was looted after the deportation of the Crimean Tatars in 1944. I often rewatch scenes from the film to enjoy the Crimean landscapes I never had the chance to see.
In March, I had written a letter to the Crimean political prisoner Remzi Bekirov, wishing him a happy Ramadan. Thanks to the human rights organization ZMINA, I've finally received a response from him. It was so kind and positive! I hope one day we will all finally return home.
In 5 hours at 18:30 Kyiv time, @ricktheukrainian.bsky.social and I will meet to weave ghillie suits for the Ukrainian military in the volunteer community Kitty Pechersk ❤️ Join the stream 👇🏻 www.youtube.com/live/ipBwMCg...

The Ukrainian flag flies high over a country whose core values are freedom and dignity. I love just looking at it 💙💛 The photo was taken in Crimea and published today by the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Happy Ukrainian Flag Day! #UkrainianView
Last week I attended a seminar with the Youth of European Nationalities in Denmark. It was incredible to connect with minorities from across Europe and share my experience from Crimea. Absolutely love finding people who are truly open to understanding my Crimean Tatars ❤️
Today is Appaz's birthday. He should have been celebrating it with friends and family, enjoying his youth. But since 2022 he has been in a russian prison on fabricated charges... We are waiting for Appaz's return! May he celebrate his next birthday at home 🫂❤️
Appaz Kurtamet, the youngest #Crimean political prisoner, is unlawfully held by russia. At just 19, he was abducted and sentenced to 7 years. He is 22 now. He refused to betray Ukraine. His story needs your attention — be his voice. #FreeAppazKurtamet

I don't consider myself creative, but when I have something to say about Crimea through visual elements, I create some art This collage reflects my memory of it: what was once a warm homeland is now a military base 💔 Join the auction via the link 👇 www.myminiauction.com/rickrollersa...
Looks like I'm gonna sleep today in a bomb shelter. Thank you, russia, for giving me a chance to explore the neighbourhood...
Today I was invited to record a podcast episode about #Crimea, #CrimeanTatar identity, and my work in a Ukrainian-Crimean Tatar literary project. I was delighted and truly enjoyed participating there. Let's be the voice of Crimea on all available platforms! 🩵💛
Life in #Crimea under occupation: the FSB abducted a #CrimeanTatar Khatidzhe Buyukhchan (24 y.o.) in May. They accused her of preparing a terrorist attack and ordered her family to remain silent about it! Later russians made her to "confess" on camera, presumably after threats and torture
#Crimean political prisoner Teymur Abdullayev has seen his daughter for the first time in 9 years. She was only three months old when he was imprisoned on fabricated charges by the russians in 2016. #UkrainianView
russia is attempting to use Interpol to arrest Crimean Tatars for their subsequent persecution. It recently came to light that several residents of Crimea have been detained based on requests from the russian federation via Interpol 👇🏻 The full material in 🇺🇦: investigator.org.ua/ua/news-2/no...
This week I participated in the Ungdomens Nordiska Råd summer camp on Utøya island I am grateful for the support and interest shown by all participants and organizers regarding Ukraine, Crimea and its indigenous peoples! I hope they will become powerful politicians in the future 💙
Today I am standing outside the Norwegian Parliament to remind the world about Sürgünlik. I urge them to recognize 1944 deportation of indigenous Crimean Tatar people as genocide.
Today, June 28th, Ukraine celebrates Constitution Day! 🎉 On this important day, I want to remind everyone of an excerpt from Article 134 of the Constitution of Ukraine: "The Autonomous Republic of Crimea is an inseparable constituent part of Ukraine..." 💙💛
