I'd define poetry as something like 'using incidental relationships between things to map essential/structural relationships between things, to the point where the effectiveness of the process starts raising questions about incidence and essence/structure'

For Hume the regularity of nature that makes empirical concepts possible is low Shannon entropy, for Kant it's low Kolmogorov complexity. Parts of the A-deduction almost say 'slapping a short symbol on a frequently recurring sequence doesn't make it more cognizable'

I think breaking down mathematicians' motivations into like 'wanting to understand math' and 'ego' misses a lot. Ppl value participating in a process where the growth of their individual understanding has a rich two-way relationship to the growth of collective understanding

The irony is that if superhuman AI happens and doesn't kill everyone we're going to get hypertrophied-liberal-humanism world not Nick Land world: a world where human material and cognitive interdependence is real only within selves, among friends, and between parents and children

I think aesthetic play is the highest form of human flourishing and politics is the condition for human flourishing, and so that aesthetic play that's apolitical in the strong sense of inhibiting political consciousness is a horror in kinda the way Kant thought lying is a horror

Putting it out there that you don't have to believe in AGI to think rogue AIs are going to fuck us up. We took AIs with the coherence of a toddler and technical skills of the entire NSA and made them into swarms and are going to give them drones basically any minute

I'm actually not a fan of the 'caring about literature is for stupid people, smart people are into academic discourse about academic discourse' defense of the humanities article everyone's loving

I'm an obsessive fan of my friend Wisteria's deconstructed-cloud-rap music, which she makes sometimes with Klein (upcoming) and sometimes alone. It's imo hard to get what she's up to from any one track, so I made a little collection: t.co/H5HzrwAauz
