Democratic voter, human doctor. I probably cuss too much, I'm working on it. Vocal opponent of antisemitism. Never again means never again.

ICE has now spent over $2.2 BILLION on purchasing 4 private prisons from CoreCivic, with the company banking half a billion dollars on the most recent sale. Of course, ICE will not actually operate these facilities; CoreCivic keeps the contracts to run these places for the foreseeable future.

Follows Sales of Two Detention Facilities in California
BRENTWOOD, Tenn., Aug. 05, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CoreCivic, Inc. (NYSE: CXW) (CoreCivic or the Company) announced today that it has completed the sales of its 1,600-bed Prairie Correctional Facility in Appleton, Minnesota and its 1,033-bed Midwest Regional Reception Center in Leavenworth, Kansas to the United States of America and its assigns, by and through the Department of Homeland Security for an aggregate gross sales price of $734.0 million, including $495.6 million for the Prairie Correctional Facility and $238.4 million for the Midwest Regional Reception Center. These purpose-built facilities were specifically designed to care for individuals in a secure environment. After federal and state income taxes of approximately $182.2 million and transaction costs, the Company anticipates its net proceeds from these asset sales to be approximately $522.5 million. The Company currently expects to use the net proceeds for general corporate purposes, which may include debt reduction and the repurchase of the Company's common stock.

One more thing: Go ahead and use that anti-AIPAC energy against Mike Rogers if you want to, but you’ll find it won’t work as well in the general election against a Republican. And he’ll have a massive corporate-funded war chest that El-Sayed will need to compete against.

You can’t have a progressive movement that doesn’t center on overcoming racism, particularly toward Black Americans. That’s the sin from which our national ills stem. We won’t truly fix this country without reckoning with ourselves. That’s the movement I hope to be a part of.

I'm not sure Abdul's followers know how to pivot to attacking Republicans. Looks like they just wanna keep owning the libs. Anyway, good luck Michigan. I think you chose the wrong horse, but what's done is done.

A friend of mine found these three kittens behind a Bay Area gas station. They are tame, vaccinated, and incredibly affectionate. Unfortunately, she's unable to keep them and I'm trying to find them a home. They are at risk of going to a shelter. Bay Area people, are you open to adopting?

Donald Trump promised he'd "take care" of Los Angeles firestorm survivors. 18 months later, he's flying back to LA. Not to help, but to host a fundraiser at his golf club. Do the right thing, Mr. President.

Hayley Stevens won the black vote and rural voter vote. Abdul is gonna need those votes for the general. Do you think it's helpful to call their preferred candidate gross?

Post nicht verfügbar.

This is why this is not just about Max Miller. It’s about “devout Christian” House Republican leadership who is standing with this guy because they crave power above all else. It’s the culture of MAGA and it comes straight from Trump. Vote them out.

At the end of it, all Abdul El Sayed is going to barely eke out a win in the Michigan Senate primary. I hope his most toxic supporters are reigned in and the candidate himself has a little ego check Best of all he is going to have to vigorously disavow Hasan Piker for the general.

Don't forget in 2010 republicans similarly couldn't win the control of the senate in strong red wave year where they had huge house of reps wins and flipped many gov seats but they were bogged was bad candidates in senate and lost winnable races. Same thing could happen to dems this year I worry.
