Momentum for joining the EU again is gaining in the UK. Although the brexit camp has been declining since Covid, the recent acceleration particularly comes from undecideds making up their minds. Long live Europe!

Rejoining the EU was supposed to be politically unthinkable. Now Downing Street is reportedly gathering evidence on public support for doing exactly that. That is a remarkable shift. Brexit isn't settled. The argument about Britain's future in Europe is back.

Obviously these are polling models, not predictions of what definitely will happen at an election. But politically this is significant. There is now evidence suggesting that going further on Europe could potentially help Labour electorally rather than hurt it.
