The debate on Britain’s relationship with Europe is moving. Across British politics, the question is increasingly not whether we need closer ties but what those ties should look like.

Europe can no longer take American support for granted. As our continent takes greater responsibility for its own defence, Britain must help shape the answer. European security is British security. Read Nathalie Tocci’s analysis in the Guardian: www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
The UK’s return to Erasmus+ shows what closer co-operation with Europe can deliver in practical terms: more opportunities to learn, train, teach, volunteer and build partnerships across borders. Find out more: www.intercom.org.uk/erasmusplus
Connected by more than a map. Our future is European.
On 29 August, Icelanders will vote on whether to open talks on joining the EU. Iceland is already part of the single market and Schengen, but economic pressures, security concerns and changing attitudes have put its relationship with Europe back on the agenda.
Ed Miliband seems to be emerging as the minister to watch on Europe. Our CEO Nick Harvey spoke to The New World about the government’s unanswered questions and why Europe must become a priority before other pressures push it down the agenda. Read the article: www.thenewworld.co.uk/matt-withers...

The debate is moving. Europe minister Hamish Falconer has refused to rule out a commitment to rejoin the EU in Labour’s next manifesto. Mike Galsworthy is clear: opening accession talks would offer Britain a serious route back into the European team. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...
Every part of London would vote to join the EU. 67% would vote to join the EU, rising to 85% among 18–34s and every part of the capital has a majority for joining. London is looking to Europe.
Britain cannot match the EU’s collective economic power alone. As Joe Meighan told The Independent, today’s tariffs show why our prosperity depends on rebuilding closer ties with Europe. Read more: www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...

In her speech in London, Rachel Reeves MP also claimed that "Britain’s future is inescapably bound with that of Europe - our largest trading partner, with whom we share common interests and common values." We couldn't agree more 🙌
Today, the UK-EU Treaty on Gibraltar was signed in Brussels. This agreement comes after Gibraltar was left out of the UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement, creating the prospect of a devastating ‘hard border’ for over half of Gibraltar’s workforce who cross the Spanish border everyday.
Fabian Picardo, Chief Minister of Gibraltar, also said that Leave voters were sold a ‘false prospectus’. The past may have been defined by division, but we can ensure the future is defined by cooperation. Britain's future lies with Europe.
Cancer Research UK has warned that Brexit is delaying access to potentially life-extending treatments. A clinical trial for children with an aggressive brain cancer has been approved across Europe, but UK patients remain locked out due to regulatory barriers created after leaving the EU.
One thing’s for sure: whichever side wins, Europe wins 🏴🇳🇴🇪🇺
Polling conducted by Opinium on behalf of European Movement UK also found that 46% of 18-34 year olds think the UK should revisit the question of EU membership within the next 5 years. The public support is there. Now let's turn that support into meaningful action.
It's positive to hear these words from Andy Burnham, MP for Makerfield, particularly in a time when closer cooperation with Europe is more essential than ever. The current Government have made good progress on a deeper UK-EU relationship, but we must go further.
Sir Nick Clegg, Former Deputy Prime Minister of the United Kingdom: "If anyone thinks that being alone is a smart place to be in this modern world, they've got another thing coming." It's time to build a European future for Britain.
Baron Hermer's argument is especially relevant at a time when Nigel Farage, one of the ECHR's most vocal critics, is resigning only to seek re-election in the same seat of Clacton-on-Sea. Democracy depends on strong institutions and protections, and the ECHR helps defend it.
At the NATO Leaders' Summit in Ankara, Türkiye, it has been announced that allies will spend £37 billion over the next decade to develop Deep Precision Strike capabilities to bolster defence and deterrence across the Alliance.

Yvette Cooper MP, Foreign Secretary, also stated that reduced dependency on any single ally means "working more closely with our European partners, but without trying to turn the clock back to 2016." Looking to the future is necessary for our country's security and prosperity.
Under a new maritime partnership signed at the NATO Summit in Türkiye, British and Dutch forces are set to be equipped with new amphibious transport ships. This agreement is a reminder that Britain is stronger when working with our European neighbours. This is just the beginning.
"Leave means leave"... unless it's your own seat, apparently. If Nigel can leave and come back, why can't Britain come back to Europe?
Nigel Farage resigns as MP for Clacton, triggering by-election which he says he will stand in
The Reform UK leader's statement follows reports he failed to declare financial support from an ally. He has also faced questions over an unregistered £5m gift from a donor.

Nigel Farage has announced that he is stepping down as MP for Clacton, but will seek re-election in the inevitable by-election. Here's our view:
