If a generative AI CEO is telling you something, take it with a grain of salt the size of an iceberg. So if they want regulation now, it is more likely something to do with finances than an immediate existential threat. These dipshits do not care about existential threats other than going bankrupt.

I’ve now lived so much longer than I would ever have expected to that I feel I’m living in the future. This is when I imagined Neuromancer happening. And now the creators of today’s AI warn us that it threatens humanity.

And I assume that it does, though it’s still scarcely AI at all. So this is a familiar future, yet stupid. And in so many other ways as well.

Just back from Montreal where I launched “The Genealogy of Genealogy” at McGill University. The physical copies were delayed, but the conversation more than compensated! The press reports that advance copies are now shipping and at least one has already been delivered.
