5 August 2026 is our brother Mohamed's birthday, his third since being displaced. He said to me today, "When I receive a kind word from anyone outside of Gaza, I get a strange feeling / I feel like the word is a lifeline." Send him a message via @mossmallfarm.bsky.social (you know where to give)

A few hours ago he sent me just one word: "Ceasefire" He was so happy, yet didn't dare to truly believe it. The situation is really taking an emotional toll on him. (Not entirely unrelated: I love how laughing in Arabic –hahaha– looks like rose lying on its side: ههههه)

On a more serious note, though: there was heavy bombing all over Gaza again. One bomb struck a tent about 700 meters away from Mohamed's small farm, killing a woman and her son. We're trying to focus on the more lighthearted moments in our posts, but the reality is much harsher than that.

mohamed is literally dr pepper now. he documented this surgery for you! with more people in the camp, and more bombing and shooting from the occupation forces behind the berms now enclosing the camp, there are even fewer “safe” places for the 6 kids old enough to play outside. bit.ly/help-mohamed
