When I was a kid I loved building Lego. I was quite good at creating my own stuff too. But I'm crap at it now. There are just so many different pieces that do the one job they need to do. The creativity is all different. I liked having to be imaginative with the few bits I had.

Whizzing through the countryside on a train, heading south from London on a sunny spring evening really is a super advert for Great Britain. ☀️🐄🐏🌲🌳🌳🏡🦋 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃

No, it's not the first spacecraft to go into polar orbit. (Just go out after dusk on a clear night and look up). It's the first crewed spacecraft to go into polar orbit. News outlets should do better. I'm looking at you BBC. #Pedantic #Space 🚀☀️🧊☀️🧊☀️🧊🧑‍🚀🧑‍🚀🧑‍🚀🧑‍🚀

10 years since we sent Astro Pi to the space station it's still going strong. Today I completed another CPD session with primary teachers, who will be sending code to space with their classes in no time!

The UK is getting back into a run of evening sightings of the ISS, and (whisper it) maybe clear skies. Tonight's good pass is 20:01 in Swindon, but you can look up your times at spotthestation.nasa.gov. Look West at the right time, look out for a really bright, moving dot, and give the Crew a wave.

Spot The Station

See the International Space Station! As the third brightest object in the sky the space station is easy to see if you know when to look up.

Just watched the ISS pass overhead and what I presume is a Dragon chasing along behind it. I've been ISS spotting for 20+ years (and Mir before that) and it still blows my mind to see a crewed spaceship with my own eyes.

Yes perhaps surprisingly for many, UK does have a space agency @ukspaceagency.bsky.social, .as well as leading space capabilities and some of this is supporting an excellent European Space Agency programme @esa.int - so we must celebrate and nurture this vs darker times elsewhere…

@esa.int and @ukspaceagency.bsky.social are boosting the UK's space sector and startup scene by driving economic growth, tech autonomy, high-value jobs, and a shared ethical and sustainable vision. This increase in funding highlights our joint commitment in elevating the future of Europe in space.
