Recent GFS runs strongly amplify tropospheric stationary waves by first week of Feb – including a Scandi–Greenland dipole pattern. That could weaken the currently very strong polar vortex, but the 101-member subseasonal IFS ensemble mean is above avg into March. As always, something to watch 👀
With deep #snow, calm winds and starry skies, some impressively low night-time temperatures are likely later this week. As dense, cold air collects in the valleys - easily down to -10c or below. Upper #Wensleydale
