An AI generated review isn't the purpose of a review. It's a fact check. A review determines if is readable and a contribution, if it is meaningful. I don't eve know what it means to "perform better" on a review because that's not a thing.

What I love about this job is the variety: In the morning I counsel students worried about keeping up with AI In the afternoon I meet collaborators so we can plan how to keep up with AI And then to relax, in the evening, I catch up on articles about human peer reviewers failing to keep up with AI

After reading a copy of my book, a participant said, "This was so ahead of it's time in 2022. It feels like the interviews were conducted yesterday." Both a compliment and I wish the book had come out 2 years ago.

Six days until "AI Through the Experts’ Eyes: Communicating Complex Ideas" is out! Here is a free preview of the introduction and chapter 4, "Publication Processes and the Writing of AI." In this chapter, I talk about how the pressures to publish can lead to AI research communities...

I'm on the other side of this one, actually. Style counts. If people can hear modelspeak in your prose, it weakens the effect in the same way overusing clichés weakens the effect. I don't care *how* you get there, but if an editor says "this doesn't sound fresh and authentic," you have a problem.

Opinion: If AI is now part of academic writing, what should institutions actually evaluate? This essay argues that analytical writing should be judged by evidence, structure, argument, and accountability not by guesses about how each sentence was produced. https://chroni.cl/4eDRdjg

I submitted a paper in May, it didn't get taken up for review until September, and it's still out for review. Honestly, I wouldn't care except it's about one of the most interesting topics I work on and isn't about AI.
