It was an eventful 30th birthday yesterday for Jaylen Brown. Another good game in his new home, plus some words for former teammate: www.inquirer.com/sixers/76ers...

The Sixers spent a chunk of Saturday’s shootaround on organizing the offense. That’s LeBron James’ wheelhouse, and he was about to miss the that night’s game against the Bucks to manage his sciatica. How’d the Sixers do? A Joel Embiid triple-double, and more👇🏻 www.inquirer.com/sixers/sixer...
The Sixers take lessons for life without LeBron James in their win over the Bucks
Without James, who sat out Saturday to manage his sciatica, the Sixers got a triple-double from Joel Embiid and more ballhandling from Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe.

Correction: was Walker’s right knee the Sixers clarify
Chris Hine@christopherhine.bsky.social · 16h agoNick Nurse said Jabari Walker “tweaked his left knee.” No further information beyond that as of now.
Halftime: Sixers 64, Bucks 60. Sixers need to clean up the defense, which allowed 30 points in the paint, 19 fastbreak points and 13 second chance-points. Brown with 16 points. Embiid 14-4-5. Maxey 10 points and 3 assists.
Sixers 34, Bucks 25 after Maxey hits a running heave at the buzzer. Embiid with 8-3-4. Edgecombe was 3-of-4 from deep before leaving with the injury. Sixers had zero FB points, something Nick Nurse mentioned they would miss without LeBron. They also allowed 18 PITP and 7 second-chance points.
He's headed down the tunnel toward the locker room.
Chris Hine@christopherhine.bsky.social · 18h agoVJ Edgecombe limping off the floor after hitting 3-for-4 from three-point range.
VJ Edgecombe started red-hot from three-point range, but is now out of the game after hobbling off the court. Labaron Philon coming in to make his NBA debut.
Simons again the first Sixer off the bench, replacing Maxey at the midway point of the quarter. KCP also at the scorer's table now.
Sixers up 16-13 at the first timeout. They are 6-of-12 from the floor, but have given up 12 points in the paint and four second-chance points. Embiid with a quick 6-3-2.
This would have been the Sixers starting lineup had LeBron chose any other destination, fwiw.

LeBron James (lower back/sciatica management) is officially OUT for tonight’s game vs. Milwaukee, per the NBA’s injury report. Joel Embiid still not listed. Dean Wade still questionable.
Asked Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson yesterday about Mike Gansey: “I still can’t get over how nice a person he is. I didn’t know people like that existed, like, in the world.” Read loooots more about Gansey’s journey below!👇🏻

That The Inquirer’s primary Sixers coverage team is comprised of hoops-theater split personalities is a dream I never thought could even be possible 🤩

From today’s profile of new Sixers president of basketball operations Mike Gansey. This perspective is from Wes Wilcox, a former NBA exec, scout, and coach who was with Gansey during his early Cavs days and then left for various NBA front-office jobs (click the photo for full anecdote!)

We’ve also seen far too many injury report shenanigans over the years, so plenty of things could change between now and 7pm tomorrow.
Gina Mizell@ginamizell.bsky.social · 2d agoLeBron James (sciatica management) is listed as questionable to play tomorrow vs. Milwaukee, while Joel Embiid is not on the report. Was curious if they would sit both players the same night or stagger them on this upcoming back-to-back.

A challenge from Tyrese Maxey laid out the stakes for the 76ers in the halftime locker room. “Are we going to be some frontrunners?” How the Sixers “clear” communication led to some early-season magic in their comeback against the Cavs. www.inquirer.com/sixers/lebro...
The Sixers wanted to prove they weren’t ‘front-runners.’ They passed the first test in their home opener.
Tyrese Maxey challenged the Sixers at halftime to respond after falling behind by as much as 29 points to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
