I wish the PM would consider living in the world we have instead of the world he wishes we had. We live in a world where fossil energy expansion increases carbon emissions, that increases temperatures, that increases people dying in climate-related events. No more pipelines!

Great read! Sadly not the only fossil E project that needs to stop! See map with George Rammell and green party leader @Emily Loewen. A lot of work still to be done!
Featuring lessons from @timtakaro.bsky.social on how to sustain a tree top protest against a pipeline expansion that has received $50+ billion in public subsidies and loans.
Meanwhile governments with fossil energy want to get that money out of the ground and burned up as soon as possible, hoping no one will notice the crime until they are gone.
The presumed upcoming El Nino will help cement and quantify global warming acceleration, showing that 2C global warming is likely to be reached in the 2030s, not at midcentury. The NDP locked BC into billions in LNG subsidies. What did we get? Few long term jobs, mostly low wage. Profits shipped offshore. Climate targets gone. Clean tech innovation underfunded while yesterday's industry gets billions. You can't easily remove a bad commitment. It's true for gas everywhere.
Chiefs representing more than 600 First Nations voted unanimously for Ottawa to uphold the oil-tanker ban and to withdraw from the deal between the federal and Alberta governments that could see a pipeline project pushed through. #cdnpoli #pipeline

As the elders have told us, water is life. Here in BC, we have a gas industry, heavily subsidized by taxpayers, that is sucking the life out of northern communities. The government is apparently addicted to this relationship. What will our grandchildren say about this when they are grown?

@timtakaro.bsky.social (CAPE physician, SFU researcher & study co-author): “LNG has taken centre stage in the Carney administration’s nation-building strategy, and yet we’re continuing to discover how poorly regulated this industry really is, particularly with respect to its risks to human health.”

This statement by CANE makes so much sense. When pension board says, it's their fiduciary responsibility to invest in fossil E. remind them it's a dead end for the planet and future gens, i.e. impossible to be a good longterm investment for anyone who cares about people.
