I had the pleasure of reading an early copy of this book. If you're into history and tattooing you'll want to grab a copy!

I'm so honored by this endorsement from Nataša Ilinčić @natasailincic.bsky.social. It's always amazing to have your work praised by someone you admire! Thanks Nataša 💙 INK & BLADE is available now for pre-order from @llewellynbooks.bsky.social. #tattoo #witchsky #pagansky

"Ravenna sets an ambitious scope, and executes it masterfully. Ink and Blade delves into the ancient art of tattooing, enriching carefully researched academic knowledge with lived expertise and wisdom. The result is a deeply human book that doesn’t shy away from complex topics such as dynamics of power, identity, sacredness, and body sovereignty. Ink and Blade will have a treasured place on my bookshelf, and book purists will have to forgive the numerous marginalia and underlined text that will mark (how fitting) my copy."

I just had to turn down an assignment because the deadline was unreasonably tight - so, question to my fellow art peeps: what's the bare minimum time you need for a standard wraparound book cover? (For me, considering research, thumbnails, sketches, revision, painting, adjustments: at least 1 month)

Gouache study of Suilven. Last time I was there it was late Autumn and a kind soul had left 2 pieces of firewood in the bothy, othewise we would have been stuck trying to make a fire with wet gorse at 6pm. We had whisky though, which improved our situation considerably.

I keep seeing genAI decks on KS (with the creators doubling down on "It's all hand drawn!") doing REALLY well, with backers being none the wiser. I'll be honest, the motivation to keep working on mine (especially when I know it will take YEARS) wanes every time I see one of their adverts.
