Academic freedom is not freedom from the consequences of shitty fucking inquiry nor is it freedom to be ignorant of the context in which you perform your inquiry. No inquiry is value neutral, nor can it escape from history as part of the material conditions that make inquiry possible.

"Academic freedom but just for good people" is not a practicable principle.
In a surprise to absolutely no one who is not a massive racist: the lynch mob and the eugenicists were lying.
