Damn, I forgot all about this release - I got it primarily for the 4K Ultra HD of HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES; that movie desperately needed a new transfer.
“Ernest Hemingway once wrote, 'The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.' I agree with the second part.”
Purchased some fine films from AGFA (American Genre Film Archive) this evening...

An amazingly stark example of how the US economy has broken: Zaslav clears nearly a *billion* dollars amid a CEO tenure where he made basically anything he touched worse, harmed multiple prestigious brands, led huge layoffs—but delivered a corrupt merger for shareholders. variety.com/2026/tv/news...

Arguably the greatest of the Godzilla sequels, Mothra vs Godzilla is a triumph in nearly every way. An engaging story about man's greed and nature's resilience meets top notch kaiju staging. Director Honda, special effects creator Tsuburaya, and composer Ifukube were never better.
Tomorrow is going to suck (probably) and be very stressful, but this too shall pass.

I am always surprised that while the movie, Fade to Black, has a following, it is not more popular. On an all new episode of the Retroist podcast, I talk all about this gem of a film. I hope you check it out or rewatch it this month. www.retroist.com/p/retroist-f...
Winston is Casey Jones: a street-level, blue-collar guy pulled into a world of strangeness he never knew existed.
in ghostbusters, the Leonardo is also the Donatello. Egon is covering two bases. Peter is the Raphael and the Michelangelo. Ray is also the Michelangelo. Winston is present.

An excellent thread. My picks: PEEPING TOM (1960), Jack Clayton's THE INNOCENTS (1961), Roger Corman's THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH (1964), and Mario Bava's BLOOD AND BLACK LACE (1964).
What's the most beautiful horror movie you've ever seen? I would say Kwaidan, though I realize that's a pretty basic answer. But given Kwaidan as a benchmark, can you recommend a horror (or horror-adjacent) movie in that league, or even more gorgeous?
Duuuude, watched the first episode of @mikeflanaganfilm.com’s adaptation of Stephen King’s CARRIE and it blew me away — really going to savor this one.
