When someone is found to have done something wrong by an undercover reporter, I find the defense ”but it was entrapment" to be rather peculiar. It’s simultaneously a confession of _wanting_ to do that wrong thing, while also being stupid too dim to realise they were being played.

Spent the morning fixing Mrs M’s 13 year old Nespresso machine. Unlike my 16 year old Gaggia, which is often in pieces, this was a first for me and the machine. It appears Moulinex Nesspresso machines were not designed to be dismantled. Nevertheless, it’s working again. Here’s to another 13 years ☕️
As well as the usual grant & paper writing and paper reviewing, this weekend has included my annual fig jam making experiment (Fig 1&2). Runnier than the 2025 vintage but we shall see how it matures.
