One of the fastest rises in North American pro sports history if the Valkyries can sweep Las Vegas #WNBA
Marisa Ingemi@mingemi.bsky.social · 20h agoValkyries take a 2-0 series on Las Vegas with 83-81 win. They can clinch a trip to the WNBA Finals with a win on Friday in Las Vegas.
The worst officials on the planet continue to be the worst officials on the planet. Too incompetent to fix anything in favor of anyone.
Alexa Philippou@alexaphilippou.bsky.social · 22h agoBreanna Stewart said she asked the refs if they had a reset timeout after Angel Reese's free throws and they told her no.
Dude killed the NBA on TNT a *40 year* instituion of sports media. He can't shoo fast enough

So I thought about this comment from Cabbie on my NBA YTV video, not only did he *never* see some of that footage, it hit me that a lot of 90s/2000s side content in media, especially sports media in Canada and the US didn't make it to the YouTube era or is just straight up lost media which sucks.
Golden State shattering what a team with less than 3 yrs of history is *supposed* to do. Great story in the #WNBA
Marisa Ingemi@mingemi.bsky.social · 6d agoThe Valkyries won their first playoff series in their second season ever
And things are over in Vancouver:
Maybe one of the funniest stats with the Oilers at 9 goals, the last time they scored scored 10 goals in 1996-97, deep into the *deadpuck* era of the NHL. The 1996-97 Oilers, the gritty lunchpail team.
Yeah imagine if they had social media when every week the Islanders would beat Buffalo 11-9 and Mike Bossy had like 7 points in 2 periods and the Jets lost 15-2 to Minnesota (an actual score)
The Oilers are going to be in a game that ends 13-11 somehow this year
"Premier League will die without Manchester City!" -Tweets from accounts who couldn't tell you who went unbeaten in the Prem in 03-04
Devon Levi: Oilers starting goalie might be said by mid October at this rate.
Time is a flat circle because playoff baseball is on NBC
With NBA Media Days going down and Kawhi back in T.O., figured it was as good as any to reflect on how just over 30 yrs ago, the NBA and YTV went to work on growing Canadian love for the league via TV. My latest Avrysports vid: #sportsmedia #Blacksky #NBA #VancouverGrizzlies #TorontoRaptors #YTV

Lee Corso being a man in his 70s and 80s who embraced being absurd with the mascot heads and being goofy was actually entertaining and charming..... why any network gives that ugly big toe of a human in Portnoy airtime baffles me. awfulannouncing.com/college-foot...
Where have you gone, Lee Corso? College football fans falling out of love with Saturday pregame shows
ESPN's College GameDay and FS1's Big Noon Kickoff should leave you feeling excited about the games ahead, but it doesn't feel that way to some.

It really hit me as to how long the Raptors have been in the NBA ahead of this season because they have a LOT of alumni that are now in their 60s, and in the case of John Long, 70s.
If the Tempo stayed healthy and stayed in the playoff race, firmly believe Marina is in the discussion for MVP #WNBA

Had to get some thoughts off on the Steve Sarkisian/Holly Rowe AI vid, I'm glad Arch Manning apologized for laughing about it but I'm disturbed at the number of media colleagues who found that funny in the room Where exactly is the humour in this? My latest Avrysports video #CollegeFootball #Texas
NEW Avry's Sports Show On the latest episode, I got to chop it up with the Atlanta Braves' No. 1 Prospect and St. Albert, AB, native Eric Hartman! Great to connect with Hartman on life in the Braves system and currently putting in work in AA Columbus open.spotify.com/episode/0VZ9... #MiLB #MLB
So a Vancouver WNBA expansion group has shown itself publicly! I'd heard for a couple of yrs that multiple groups in Canada wanted to get into the W, from Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal after the '24 WNBA Canada game Now where does Vancouver stand in the expansion wait vs US cities?
This Brad Bradford dude is not a serious human to be going out here campaigning on UNION STATION ISINT SAFE! What Union Station is he talking about??? SURELY NOT TORONTO'S??
I will never get over how the NFL kicker range has evolved to the point where kicks from 55+ yards are academic. A kicker lining up from 57-65 yards and MAKING IT used to stop everything
Just something else as to how hard it is to keep team USA down
Meghan L. Hall@itsmeghanlhall.bsky.social · 4w agoUSA is gold again, getting its fifth straight World Cup title. Wins 97-79 over France. Five in double figures, including Breanna Stewart with 22 points. France has 2 in double figures. Dominique Malonga with 21. Gabby Williams with 20. Tremendous second half by Team USA.
I actually had to pause at Bill Simmons wondering why the WNBA paused their season for *checks notes* the FIBA WORLD CUP you cannot be serious, dude.
Actually amazing the split of the history with the Cleveland Browns: Cleveland Browns 1.0: Won AAFC titles, consistent playoff team with trips to the AFC title game. Multiple QBs who were either Pro Bowlers or HOFers Cleveland Browns 2.0: Maybe *three* moments worth remembering since 1999 #NFL
The more I sit with the move to bring Alex Formenton to Edmonton, the less I understand it and the lack of full transparency and feel for the fans opposed. My latest for Avrysports: avrysports.com/f/formenton-... #NHL
