Here's exactly why consultants are paid to do their thing. Only a fraction of SaaS companies have dedication, resources, and knowledge to expand their lifecycle marketing in a systemic way. Also, who makes comments this long and awesome?

Co-founder of Userlist 🌀 SaaS email marketing is the game. Keep them short.
Did you know that the Split Test node isn't just for A/B tests? It's a random group generator, splitting users into up to 5 paths at whatever percentages you choose. Split testing is the obvious use: create different user journeys, then compare using email metrics or conversion goals. Classic.
What makes a perfect welcome email? (hundreds of companies still obsess about a single email, while forgetting about the rest of their lifecycle) But seriously?
This January we offered a review call to all paying customers, and most people who replied were newly added team members. They didn't know much about @userlist.com, or what's happening in their accounts. This blew our mind. So we set up a simple workflow (took me 15 minutes).
"Now that I have user onboarding in place, what else can I do?" Your best next step is: a workflow for your paying customers. It runs at a slow pace (every 1-2 weeks) and combines educational content, feature nudges, and customer loyalty interventions (asking for referrals, reviews, etc).
My co-founder @uibreakfast.com and I are "recovering perfectionists". To remind us to not chase perfection for forever, we established "Better Done Than Perfect" as our mantra. It went as far as naming our podcast after it, creating merch with the slogan on it, and her getting a "b.d.t.p." tattoo.
Software companies overthink email marketing in the same way we overthink social media. A single post won’t impact your LinkedIn account. A hundred of them might. A single email won’t impact your growth. A hundred of them might. Zero emails… Safe bet. #bdtpblurbs #emailmarketing
Time delays in @userlist.com now support advanced calendar settings. E.g. the 10th of the month, the first Monday, or the second Tuesday in March. Now you can send messages related to billing cycles, monthly check-ins, or annual reminders landing on a specific day. Give it a try in your workflows.
Still can't find time to set up your lifecycle emails? We're stoked to announce a new lineup of done-for-you services at @userlist.com 🔥 We refreshed the existing packages that have been running for years, and added a few new ones. Check'em out: userlist.com/services/
Small but useful @userlist.com update from @benediktdeicke.com. You can now edit user (and company) properties manually from the profile page. Previously, this was done via integration sync. With this, Userlist can cover more of your CRM workflow, with custom fields editable on the spot. Woot 🙌
We've got a new video library at @userlist.com 🚀 From general training, to frameworks, to individual features. Thanks @benediktdeicke.com for the motivation 😊
Mega super duper cool feature in @userlist.com. Kudos to @benediktdeicke.com for shipping 💪
You can now send webhooks straight from a Userlist workflow 🎉 We've just released a new node type that let's you trigger third-party services, run backend logic on your servers, send a message to Slack, … and tons of other stuff 💪 Looking forward to see what you all are going to build with it 👀
This Sunday, a friendly Martian will enter the inbox of 7000+ subscribers in our marketing email list at @userlist.com. @benediktdeicke.com is okay with that. AMA.
Stoked to share the ride with @benediktdeicke.com 💛
Last year, I almost quit the company I co-founded (@userlist.com) 😵 We had a rough start to the year. Our four biggest customers at the time churned for various reasons, mostly unrelated to the product. Our revenue dropped by 15% and we got into a bit of a money crunch.
Our Forms feature just got an improvement. Form submissions now live in a proper table. Customizable, like any other table in @userlist.com. Woot!
We just launched a new onboarding flow at @userlist.com featuring Susie and her adventures in the email land 😊
Want to know the main reason why we built this? Excel doesn't reliably recognize ISO 8601 formatted date/time values when importing CSV files. ISO 8601 has been around since 1988… 🤪
Small quality-of-life improvement. You can now export @userlist.com data in Excel format, in addition to the CSV format which was previously available. The file opens seamlessly in Excel for reporting or backups. Boom!

We’ve added broadcast delivery throttling to @userlist.com. Control how fast a broadcast is delivered by sending it in smaller batches. This keeps delivery smooth for large audiences, and helps with sending anxiety. Give it a try in your next broadcast ⚡✍
Our Christmas gift for those who run support on Plain: the native Plain x @userlist.com integration is live 💚 This integration shows Userlist customer data — user and company info — right inside your Plain inbox, in your sidebar. No need to switch tools.
Our Webhooks are officially live today 🔥 This integration has been hidden behind a feature flag for a while. But we're stoked to enable it for all @userlist.com customers. Docs here: userlist.com/docs/integra... Please ping @benediktdeicke.com for hard technical questions 😊
We recently rolled out a few improvements to @userlist.com's Transactional Messages API. You can now customize almost every aspect of a message, including channel, topic, subject, body, sender, and (obviously) recipient. You can learn more in our docs: userlist.com/docs/develop...
We improved @userlist.com's reporting capabilities a bit 🎉 You can now get account-wide reports, as well as drill downs by type (broadcast, workflow, ...) 🔍 We also made the aggregates smarter. Depending on what period you look at, you either get monthly, weekly, daily, or hourly stats 📈
We're stoked to introduce account-wide Reporting features in @userlist.com 🔥 You can now access account-wide performance metrics and slice them by date, type, or specific workflow and message. Available to all customers starting from the Basic plan. Happy reporting 💛

In case you missed it. @userlist.com comes with a library of workflow templates. No, it's not AI. When creating a new workflow, choose one of the templates. You'll get a populated workflow. As easy as apple pie 🍎
You asked, and we delivered. @posthog.com x @userlist.com integration is live 💙 They're the cool kid on the block. Our integration allows you to send user, company, and event data from PostHog into Userlist. - docs here userlist.com/docs/integra... - happy integrating! - happy halloween!
Our integrations now have eyes 👀 @benediktdeicke.com asked me for a design system to generate images for @userlist.com integration pages and alternatives. It needed to be simple, but quirky. Couple hours later, and new integration banners get a pair of eyes, randomly picked from 12 options.
Super excited to finally ship this to everyone. While Userlist was able to store arrays since day one, using them in filters, conditions, or segments wasn't possible until now 🤩 The user interface even supports arrays of arrays, but not sure there's actually a good use case for that 🤣
Did you know that @userlist.com supports array properties? (One of those things that make us an advanced platform.) For example, you can create a segment of users who have an active Stripe integration in their integrations list. The integrations array has both name and state [see illustration].
New feature at @userlist.com 💫 You can now start workflows on a calendar schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly) using a Recurring Trigger. For example, you can send a reminder to your Paying Customers segment every Friday (see illustration). Happy triggering 😜
