Aporta datos objetivos, no ideología.

Being a leftist means taking big shots. And making them.
Behind every climate graphic there's science, design and storytelling. @annalombardi.bsky.social shares her creative process and her role as one of the organisers of Visualising Climate, the first global conference on climate dataviz (Bologna, 4–6 Nov 2026) 🌍📊 climate.copernicus.eu/c3s-behind-s...
C3S behind the scenes: making climate data visible
Data visualisation is a discipline sitting at the interface of science, communication and design. Contrary to common misconceptions, it is not simply the art of making charts “prettier.” It’s about cr...

Where has snow fallen at any point since 1940?

I surveyed this for Geoscience Communication: of 299 maps in 27 geoscience journals, only 1.7% name their projection, 44% give no way to tell, and just 16% draw a graticule. doi.org/10.5194/egusphere-2026-4209 #MapProjections #GIS #Cartography
GC Insights: Choosing the right map projection, and what it means for scale bars and north arrows
Abstract. Map projection choice is usually left to software defaults, yet it determines whether spatial patterns are shown faithfully or systematically distorted. Because every projection trades area,...

And "GPS projection" (usually meant as EPSG:4326) isn't a projection at all - just lat/lon plotted raw on a flat grid. A real 1x1 degree cell at 60N is a tall rectangle. Plotted in 4326 it's a wrong-shaped square. Reprojected to 3857 it's the right shape, just inflated.
The UN just voted 164-1 to retire Mercator. Great news for how Africa and Latin America look on a map. But here's the twist: almost nothing you see daily is even "true" Mercator - it's Web Mercator, EPSG:3857, built for map tiles, not 16th-century navigation.
Just learned we’re on @chezvoila.com’s starter pack. Didn’t really know what starter packs are. Neat! Thank you! Good list! go.bsky.app/R3nSyyy

The planet will keep getting hotter, even with ongoing efforts to slow the temperature rise. But choices exist. Every fraction of a degree prevented, & every year by which the overshoot period is shortened, will save lives, protect ecosystems, & reduce economic losses. More: tinyurl.com/2vb9krpj

Aerial photos from Chinese media better show how the entire border installation has been scoured from the face of the Earth. The amount of energy carried by the debris flow must have been gargantuan, and the human cost will be enormous.
Sentinel-2 timelapse showing the Gyirong Port (古隆口岸) border crossing area between Nepal and China. The buildings of the border crossing, bridges and downstream villages have all completely disappeared.
An incredibly well-timed Landsat 9 pass captured the effects of yesterday’s catastrophic glacier collapse near the Nepal–Tibet border. The event was so massive that it was detected by seismometers around the world.
Children disproportionately affected by heat Our new Science Advances paper, led by @rosapietroiusti.bsky.social and @wimthiery.eu, shows that children today – and in the future – are disproportionately affected by heat stress. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Age-specific exposure to human-induced increases in humid heat
Children are particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts and will face intensifying effects of climate change during their lifetimes. Here, we show that children already face disproportionate ex...
