Feeling grateful to that my painting “Before the Storm” won Best Plein Air Landscape in Plein Air Magazine’s 15th Annual Salon Show. My sincere thanks to #PleinAirMagazine . I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a supportive and passionate community of plein air painters.

1. Art is not a competition 2. Sentimentality is not art 3. The camera removed the goal of art being realistic looking & set it free 4. Art is honest authentic emotion - that’s why a great Rembrandt & your child’s drawing, for you, are equally important. 5. Art lifts us out of ourselves

Guernica (1937) knocks Korea into a cocked hat! Why? Well his Korea is cerebral & draws on Picasso’s anti-war Communist politics. Guernica is his native Spain, his people, his homeland attacked. It’s authentic emotion - not logical exposition.
