This is a fascinating thread (and research) on the mechanism of how genAI generated podcasts come into being.
New dataset published: this is the audio + transcripts of AI-generated podcasts using NotebookLM to analyse how it "translated" source documents from different times and cultures. My favourites are the 20 podcasts generated from an empty PDF. The paper about it is in press. doi.org/10.18710/RNT...

Using AI is bad scholarship; passing it off as your own work is academic misconduct.
We have just rejected an(other) article for the use of AI. The AI had hallucinated a publication apparently written by a certain J.E. Richardson, and another (by G. Mautner) apparently published in CDS 16(2). Funnily enough, I recognised both were fictional. A reminder: AI generates slop.

An absolute gem! 🤘💯
My colleague at @hhu.bsky.social and go-to-phonologist Christian Uffmann just released a special music video to introduce himself. He truly puts the fun back in phonology, the antics in semantics, and makes you scream for more more more morphology 🎶🎵 #linguistics www.instagram.com/reel/DDHUNSB...
