i don't smoke tobacco so i'm late on this, but apparently its impossible to buy wood tips at the bodega now because the city cracked down on tobacco tax & licenses.

this is almost as funny as the time I went to a demo in manhattan and I was holding an antifa flag, standing behind an antifa banner with like 30 other people and some old dude saw my shaved head and came up and poked a finger in my chest and was like “what kind of proud boy are you supposed to be?”

Oh you're like an actual MAGA child rapist. Yea, you Trumpers should be penalized. It won't be enough to makeup for what you've done to the world, but a lifetime of servitude is all that you're good for now. Best case scenario is that you freaks shut the fuck up and repent for what you've done

we gotta get people off meta, man… idk how to do this but basically everyone I meet IRL who does art or music wants to swap IG handles and that app is 90% brainrot swill and all I want is to see what the other artists and music people, who are also my neighbors, are doing.

seriously though, social media with only algorithmic feeds and default punishment of anything that links off the platform just seems totally contrary to the entire point of social media... it's truly depressing how many people actually prefer being treated like sheep, to be kept in a pen and shorn

first time I went to visit a friend in federal prison, the guard kept coming up with new reasons not to let me in (rings, belt, chain, etc) and every time I had to go back out through the metal detector and pay $1.25 to open the locker in the lobby.

I visit women’s prisons all over the US and have to plan VERY carefully everything from my underwear, perfume (which is often banned and I had to stop using fabric softener), jewelry (if at all), color clothes or type of fabric to shoes. boltsmag.org/california-p...

After driving five hours to visit her son in prison, Anita Wills, 80, found herself in an impossible situation: fish her bra wire out of the fabric using only a paperclip, or be turned away from visiting with her son. Those were the rules at the California State Prison in Lancaster that day-bra required, but underwire bra forbidden. While the wire was so small that Wills didn't even know it was there, the visiting staff would not let her see her son until she removed it. They claimed to not have scissors, giving her only a paperclip.
Wills cried as she struggled for over an hour to remove the wire with the paper clip, and says she heard guards laughing because they knew it was impossible. But giving up would mean she couldn't see her son, and that the long drive and hotel costs would have been for nothing, so she tried for as long as the guards would let her, to no avail.
"I did not get a chance to see my son that day," Wills told Bolts.
"Knowing that he was on the other side of those bars, that was just really hurtful. The state that I live in and pay taxes in treats people like that. It's so inhumane."

does anyone have a source / feed / follow they'd recommend for understanding what's going on in Albania? preferably a socialist/anarchist source, with some understanding of groups & alignments, and what's happening on the ground?

I could spend every waking moment of the rest of my unnatural life banging my head against a wall working on my projects and trying to make art. I don’t want a $500b app that makes the art for me. I want a way to devote myself to that process without worrying about how I’m gonna afford food or rent.

“Make accessible” a thing humans have been doing for as long as there have been humans.

In a January 2025 appearance on The Twenty Minute VC, a venture-capital podcast, Suno CEO and co-founder Mikey Shulman said that his company’s mission is to make the joy of music-making accessible to billions of people. A clip from this interview went viral among musicians — not because they applauded his sentiments, but because it enraged them.
“It’s not really enjoyable to make music now,” Shulman said. When asked to elaborate, he said, “It takes a lot of time, it takes a lot of practice, you have to get really good at an instrument or really good at a piece of production software. I think the majority of people don’t enjoy the majority of the time they spend making music.” The implication appeared to be that Suno offers customers the experience of making music without any of the tedium or expense involved in doing it the old-fashioned way. What could be better than that?
