Look what just arrived in my inbox. 🤯 (For reference I had a 2027 eta)

@chris-spann.co.uk Bluetooth MIDI works perfectly between my OP1 and FM1, and I found an Android app that acts as a MIDI host called MIDI Hub. I still need to play with using a Pi as host instead. I let my 8yr old loose on the FM1 and she managed to make sounds I didn't even know were possible!

I've been stuck in an eternal loop reading the same page of a @aptshadow.bsky.social novel on my Kindle and falling asleep with parent fatigue before I get to the bottom. To the point the author has released multiple books in that space of time!
My M-VAVE FM-1 arrived and just taking it out of the box I lost an hour to making music on the thing. The controls are very intuitive and it sounds great for the price. I'll make some videos next week!
I did a short workshop in learning to play the Kora and now it's another thing to add to my "definitely need to buy but can never justify the budget" list. 😅

New from 404 Media: we solved which AI company is buying massive shipments of rare books, scanning and destroying them to train AI. We put an Apple AirTag in a rare book, followed it. It ended up at an Amazon facility. Its logo is a dinosaur ripping through a book www.404media.co/we-tracked-a...
We Tracked a Shipment of Rare Books. It Ended at an Amazon AI Training Facility
We placed a tracking device in a shipment of rare books to see which AI company was buying it, and found an Amazon facility where Amazon scans and destroys books.

Anyone here with an M-VAVE FM-1? I'd be interested to know what you think. @orangetronic.bsky.social

@chris-spann.co.uk I'm now hooked on A Monster's Expedition after completing Baba.
Miso marinated cod ramen with pork broth and soy sauce pickled eggs. The amount of prep (I started with making the broth on Monday) that went into this was definitely worth it.
I've now completed 100% of Baba Is You and I feel like my brain has been completely rewired in the process. The gaming equivalent of a taxi driver passing The Knowledge.
How is Portal 2 15 years old already?!? I remember vividly when the first game came out. It was the first thing I played from the Orange Box. Then many years later being fully invested in PotatoFoolsDay in the run up to Portal 2. 🥰
Years in the making, I finally have a working prototype of my Camera GBD-M2 (previously shared as Game Boy Camera M2). A sequel to the Game Boy Camera M1, this new redesign uses original Game Boy Pocket & Game Boy Camera chips into a camera-like shape roughly the same size as the Ricoh GR III.
Thank you to the security researcher who wrote full instructions for exploiting the recent WordPress CVE making the last few days for me extremely stressful.
7 years late to the party but I'm finally making my way through this cursed game.
A final major refactor of a long stale project of mine has finally *touchwood* pushed it over the last hurdle for releasing a new version. The worst thing about leaving a project for even a little is how quickly the house of cards of dependencies gets knocked down.
I'm moving from Windows as a heavy Power Toys user to Mac as my daily dev device. What are the go to apps I'll need for a new Mac?
The Mindful Design Toolkit @scott.is created a toolkit to help you design better, more mindful products. I like how he brings back the main principles and methods of user centric design, with some files that you can use to kick start your own projects. mindfuldesign.xyz/toolkit/intro/

My curated weekly newsletter is out. This week, I'm interesting in the tension between fast AI fixes and deep thinking, how we are making the web accessibility for robots, not people. Also: a happy map dataviz and an interesting system for colorblind people. 👉🏻 stephaniewalter.design/blog/pixels-...
Found thousands of ants in the kitchen and macgyvered their demise with a hot glue gun, expanding foam, and a litre of washing up liquid. Definitely feeling like I've achieved peak Dad.
