Thanks to the Committee of Interns and Residents for their endorsement! Their continued support means a lot! I will do my best to continue working with them as a partner and a friend in the healthcare space and beyond.
See you tonight.
Join us tomorrow (May 20, 6:30pm, Freedom Plaza) for the Ride of Silence to remember the Allie and the many other cyclists who have been injured or killed doing what we all try to do every day - just get around safely. Details here: ggwash.org/calendar/eve...
Another big endorsement for our campaign! Thank you to the hard-working members of @AFSCME District Council 20 for their endorsement! We share an agenda of making DC better for all, and DC government better for all, including its workers!
Thank You @WardOneDems for your endorsement! The other big news: Yard signs are in! More here: elissafordc.substack.com/p/big-news-f...
Today's the 4/10 campaign finance deadline If you believe in a DC that invests in: *families through paid leave & early childhood ed *small businesses through streamlined regs & permits *a 911 system that answers & dispatches quickly Please donate: elissafordc.com
Thank you to Sierra Club DC Chapter for a big environmental seal of approval! Help spread the word! More on that here: elissafordc.substack.com/p/a-big-endo...
A Big Endorsement A Day Before A Big Deadline
Tomorrow is our deadline to report contributions! Please give if you haven't already!

I spent a few hours with D.C.'s newest voters: the seniors of Thurgood Marshall Academy. They told me their concerns that there aren't enough mental health resources for them, why they go to Navy Yard, etc. Also: It's a campaign finance deadline! More here: elissafordc.substack.com/p/what-i-hea...
Proud to announce that IAFF Local 36--the International Association of Firefighters--is endorsing my campaign to be the next Independent D.C. At-Large Councilmember! IAFF Local 36 represents about 2,000 women & men who serve or have served the nation's capital in fire and emergency medical services
Endorsement #4: A big one! Thank you Metro Washington Council AFL-CIO! #3. DC Women in Politics #2. Washington Teachers' Union #1. DCBikeWalkBusPAC But the ultimate endorsement is from DC voters. Please rank me #1 on your June 16 special election ballot!
After I confirmed that 5 people listed in Lee4DC's campaign finance reports denied making a donation, I asked the Office of Campaign Finance for an urgent investigation given that Lee4DC has been certified for public financing & as of 3/20/26 was set to receive $130,125 in funds.
OCF tells me they're now investigating this. This has big implications for Fair Elections, considering Lee stands to receive $110k in matching funds based on the donors he's reported. Do there need to be more safeguards against this sort of thing? wamu.org/story/26/03/...

I am a graduate of a big city public education system, from grades 1-12. I know the difference that good teachers--thank you, Mrs. Simms--can make. We need our kids in school, and our schools to be the center of their lives. Full Press Release: shorturl.at/XGEbk
Signed, sealed, delivered! Earlier today, I delivered 3,904 signatures to qualify for the 6/16 Special Election for the independent seat on the DC Council. My campaign checks our signatures prior to turning in, and we had an 86% validity rate, meaning 3,357 are verified voters! Thank you DC!

You learn a lot about what D.C. voters want when you spend eight weeks collecting petition signatures. Here's what you said: elissafordc.substack.com/p/what-youre...
Good Morning! It feels strange to focus on local DC when federal DC is waging war with Iran. Nevertheless, I'll be collecting signatures: 10-noon at Mount Pleasant Farmers Market 12:30-1ish outside DC Women in Politics debate And take a moment to read: elissafordc.substack.com/p/meeting-ab...
Should you file D.C. taxes given the kerfuffle? Should you be near the Potomac given the sewage spill? These questions deserve clear answers. Should you see Springsteen at Nats Park? Yes, if you can afford it! Also help me get on the ballot! More here: elissafordc.substack.com/p/you-deserv...
Bloomingdale neighbors! Big Bear fans! I'll be at the Bloomingdale Farmers Market this morning from about 9:30 to 11:15 am. Stop by, and if you're a D.C. voters, I ask for your signature so I can qualify for the at-large Special Election ballot. Thanks! Elissa.

Now is the time for all D.C. residents to speak up. I joined 16 of D.C.'s former elected officials to speak out against Trump's abuse of his powers under D.C.'s Home Rule Act. This authoritarian move needs to be met with protest. I'll continue to work with my colleagues to stop this power grab.
The New York City mayor’s race is exactly what is wrong with Democratic politics: A scandal ridden establishment candidate who has tons of campaign money versus a Democratic Socialist with great social media, DSA ground troops, & pie in the sky policies. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/15/n...
