The magic that bound Marrow to the wizard’s service was very specific. Falthazir called it contract magic, the spells he used to bind spirits and creatures to his command, but that implied some kind of agreement. Marrow had been stolen from their realm, a place more concept than substance where they’d been happily nameless, just another wisp gliding along strands of gossamer thought.
