#ResistanceRoots Mary Ritter Beard was born on this day in 1876 in Indianapolis, Ind. She was a historian, author, and labor and women’s rights activist who challenged traditional narratives about women. Her contributions were largely erased until rediscovered by a new generation of feminists. /1

Mary Ritter Beard, ca. 1915. Mainstream feminists of her day used the narrative of historic subjection to fight for current rights. Beard argued this approach was bad history that erased women’s actual past achievements and power as vital forces in shaping human civilization. She also argued that women should not merely strive to equal men, as men’s historical focus on warfare and political dominance was fundamentally flawed. Photo credit: Library of Congress.

This is your daily reminder that Trump and Republicans are spending billions of your tax dollars on an unauthorized war in Iran and Stephen Miller’s ICE agenda while gutting Medicaid, slashing SNAP, and driving up your health care costs.

Despite Trump's attempt to undermine voting by mail, it's still running smoothly in my state of Hawaii at least. I received my ballot in the mail well before the 8/6 primary election day & I received a text that my ballot was validated and accepted the day after putting it in the ballot drop box. 💙
