Excited to work with a brand new style of #Argo floats: Apex floats manufactured by #TeledyneWebbResearch in Massachusetts. Half of them have RBR sensors (a Canadian CTD manufacturer) and half have the "traditional" SBE (Seabird Scientific) sensor. Moar data!!!

New shipment of @argocanada.bsky.social #Argo floats arrived (Teledyne Apex)! Getting them tested and ready to start deploying. Can't tell because of the baggies over the sensors, but half of them are #RBR sensors and the other half are #SBE sensors. Our committment to diversifying the Argo fleet!

Fourteen yellow Teledyne Webb Apex Argo floats stand in a lab at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography. One in the center shows off it's RBR inductive-style CTD sensor.

🔴 2023 was also the driest year for global rivers in 33 years. 🌡️ Rising temperatures are speeding up the hydrological cycle, making it more erratic and unpredictable. 🔵 This means we’re increasingly facing extremes—too much water in some places and too little in others.
