Update from the GEORGE demo mission in the NW Mediterranean & #MOOSE2026 cruise on R/V #GaiaBlu 🚢 On Friday, the second #Argo float of the mission was deployed for long-term autonomous measurements near Lion. Following tradition, the float was signed by crew members before being sent on its way ✍️

reversing winds in the El Niño shut down the upwelling of high nitrate water. An El Niño service: the cessation of upwelling also stops bringing high CO2 water to the surface and weakens equatorial CO2 outgassing. One of the largest CO2 inputs to the atmosphere.
