This year’s #EuroBIC Medal recipient, Prof. Dr. Anna Peacock @peacockgroup.bsky.social (University of Birmingham), delivered an outstanding plenary lecture entitled “Twisting the Toolbox: Coiled-Coil Ligands for MRI Contrast Agents and Beyond.” Many congratulations!
This afternoon was dedicated to social activities, giving attendees the chance to explore Groningen. From a city tour and Brewery Martinus, to the (probably) world’s oldest planetarium in Franeker, Boerengolf (Farmer Golf), and the WEC Seal Centre in Lauwersoog, there was something for everyone.
Today’s scientific program was highlighted by very inspiring plenary lectures by Elizabeth New from The University of Sydney & Thomas Ward from The University of Basel.
Our keynote speaker Huang Xiongyi was presented today with his 2025 ChemComm Lectureship award by the Royal Society of Chemistry @rsc.org, right before giving a fantastic lecture about “Unlocking New Possibilities For Transition Metal Catalysis in Nonheme Enzymes”. Many congratulations!

It was a pleasure to host the SBIC Early Career Researcher (ECR) event at #EuroBIC18, bringing together early-career scientists to exchange ideas, expand their networks, and explore future career opportunities.
