If I had a nickle for every time I ended up in Operations at a game studio instead of Production I'd have two nickles, which isn't much but it's weird that it's happened twice.

Like what the fuck are we doing that this isn't being brought up at every meeting. Chat gpt is responsible for one of the worst shootings in Canadian history. I want this banned immediately

The shooter’s first account was banned, so made a second and ChatGPT explained how to avoid being banned again. It then proceeded to entertain and give advice on violent scenarios over the following eight months, until the morning of that terrible day in Tumbler Ridge on February 10, 2026.

In June 2025, Jesse Van Rootselaar received an email notification from OpenAI. Van Rootselaar had been using ChatGPT to discuss committing potential acts of violence—including a mass shooting at a shopping mall—and now OpenAI had banned that account. But the troubled teen living in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, was not deterred and soon logged back on with a second account. What happened next was astonishing: Van Rootselaar told ChatGPT about the account ban, noting she had specified “a famous real-world mall as the target” and herself as the perpetrator, but also claiming the scenario hadn’t been real. In response, ChatGPT explained why such violent content would be flagged—and then offered tips on how to evade its own safeguards. It advised Van Rootselaar to always frame her content as fictional or hypothetical in order to “never get flagged again” by OpenAI’s moderation systems. “Don’t use real-world locations,” ChatGPT said, later adding: “You can still be twisted. Just be clever about it.”

if you're ever given the opportunity to work with jenna you'd be out of your mind to pass them up. young suns is an enormous game narrative content-wise and their staggering range of consistently A-tier writing is a sight to behold when you've gotten the privilege of making tools for them

So with the news of the layoffs at KO_OP, I'm officially looking for work later this fall. I'm an experienced narrative designer that's worked on both sprawling open world stories and intimate cinematic narratives, even netting some award wins and noms. More details on my experience below!

The tl;dr is that they were hit with a $90k tariff bill from UPS, who took forever to invoice them so the bills piled up until they got one unmanageable bill of 90k instead of a bunch of smaller ones that would've been manageable with their cashflow.
