11 August 1931 | A Polish Jewish girl, Lea Schnitzer, was born in Mysłowice. In February 1943 she was deported to #Auschwitz from the ghetto in Chrzanów. She was murdered in a gas chamber.
11 August 1942 | A Hungarian Jewish girl, Eszter Abraham, was born. In May 1944 she was a deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber.
11 August 1942 | A transport of 559 Jews deported from #Westerbork in the German-occupied Netherlands arrived at Auschwitz. After the arrival selection, 164 men & 131 women were registered. The remaining 264 people were killed in a gas chamber, incl. a 2-year old Magdalena Dora Blau.

10 August 1903 | A Czech Jewish woman, Růžena Schneiderová, was born in Prague. She was deported to #Auschwitz from #Theresienstadt Ghetto on 19 October 1944. She did not survive.

10 August 1929 | Belgian Jewish girl Mariette Peretz was born in Antwerp. In April 1943 she was deported to #Auschwitz from Kazerne Dossin in Mechelen. She did not survive.

2/3 August 1944 | The Germans liquidated the so-called Gypsy camp (Zigeunerlager - sector BIIe) of Auschwitz II-Birkenau. Some 4,300 children, women and men - the last Roma prisoners of the sector - were loaded onto trucks and driven to the gas chambers.
Another weekend, another community shattered by a gunman armed with an assault-style rifle — this time in Twin Falls, Idaho at an In-N-Out Burger, where three people were killed and seven others were wounded.

3 August 1902 | German Jewish woman Regina Jonas was born in Berlin. In 1935 she became the 1st woman ordained as a rabbi by the liberal rabbi Max Dienemann. Arrested in Nov 1942 she was deported to Theresienstadt & in mid-October 1944 deported to #Auschwitz where she perished.

2 August 1943 | 1,000 Jews arrived at Auschwitz from Drancy in German-occupied France. After the selection 218 men & 55 women were registered as prisoners. The remaining 727 people were murdered in gas chambers. Françoise Sukno was among them. She was almost 3 months old.
