I am a writer. I have lived in 5 countries (including one that no longer exists), written 6 novels, and 160 stories (more, actually, but who’s counting?). And when I am not writing fantasy and horror, I am writing about fantasy and horror written by others

I am to participate in a fascinating literary event in San Francisco - a panel with post-Soviet writers. There should be more of those. As opposed to fascism which seems to be everywhere, the terrible legacy of communism is forgotten. We, writers and intellectuals, need to speak out

Among all the novels I have written, this is my own favorite. If you want to wander in the dark forest of fairy tales, here is your gateway to the land of ghoulish Little Mother, the Ogre, and the Three Dragon Rivers. Thank you Crystal Lake Publishing for featuring it!

Since #censorship is in the news, let me post a short list of books that were banned in the USSR (meaning you could go to jail for reading one). George Orwell Nineteen eighty-four Evgeniy Zamyatin We Alexander Solzhenitsyn The Gulag Archipelago Arthur Koestler Darkness at Noon

So, since I am new to this platform, a dumb question. I don’t want to discuss politics because I do it on Substack and X. I don’t want to advertise my own writing because I do it on Insta and FB. What can I discuss here that will be of interest to others?

OK, I’m here since everybody else seems to be. I’m ready to discuss science fiction, writing, and publishing. No politics, please, as I have other channels for that. And below is one of my novels, just in case you may be interested.

I am revising my first novel for a new edition and writing a brand-new one. So, I have learned a lot in 12 years since my first novel was published. That’s good. But I haven’t learned enough to just sit down and write a novel from scratch in a month. That’s…not so good.
