As Sir Humphrey might have said in Yes Prime Minister, it was a very courageous decision of the far right in the UK to pose a binary question to the electorate. "Are you on the side of Tommy Robinson and his mates, or are you on the side of the RNLI?"

I was going through the desk of my mother, who is 98, and came across a wonderful informal photo I had never seen before. It was taken at my parents' wedding in December 1951 in Dundee. Dad was 28 and Mum was 23. They were very happily married for 49 years.

Here is an economically illiterate statement from History graduate Robert Jenrick. Economic theory doesn't care about nationality. "Forcing British workers to pay for the benefits of foreigners is not just economically illiterate but plain immoral." www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Reform UK benefits ban for foreign nationals would include EU citizens

The move would require renegotiating the UK's Brexit deal and could risk stripping British expats living in the EU of similar rights.

We go to the Isle of Jura once or twice a year. This is one of my favourite Jura photos. Sometimes in Scotland you don't have to try very hard to spot the wildlife. You can just stop the car and take a photo.

Red deer stag standing by the side of the road with mountains behind, viewed from the driver's seat of a car, with the rear view mirror showing the road behind and the sea.

Dundee FC 4 Airdrie 2. An entertaining League Cup game, with superb goals, and some poor defending. Both sides have reason to be happy with aspects of their performance, but Dundee will have to improve before the league campaign starts. Farage is presenting a by-election as a contest between the electorate of Clacton and the rules applying to all MPs. He wants the by-election to supplant a parliamentary investigation. If he wins he will argue that a victory at the polls trumps the law. That is unacceptably dangerous.

The Trump/FIFA scandal showed something we all knew about Trump. There might be no appeal process for red cards in the World Cup, and a ban is mandatory, but rules and the law are for little people to worry about. Trump doesn't think they apply if you have the phone number of the FIFA President.

This is Tommy Robinson welcoming the support of Russian neo-Nazis, who do not believe Ukraine has a right to exist and the Russian invasion is fully justified. Still, they're white patriots, so that makes them ok.

"Of course we're not racist but..." There was a small* anti asylum seeker demo in Perth at the weekend. The report in today's Courier suggests that this little mob could do with some PR advice. * The protestors were outnumbered 3 to 1 by counter-demonstrators.
