This week’s #MicrometeoriteMonday: A polished scoriaceous micrometeorite from the Sør Rondane Mountains, Antarctica! Unlike fully melted cosmic spherules, scoriaceous micrometeorites are only partially melted and tend to contain abundant vesicles formed by devolatilization. ☄️ @amgc-vub.bsky.social

A big congratulations to our PhD students who presented their posters at #EPSC last week! They (Clara, Deepak, @fienjo.bsky.social and Julius) shared their latest work on characterizing new micrometeorite collections from Greenland, the Atacama, and Antarctica! ☄️ @amgc-vub.bsky.social

In addition to the poster presentations, Fien, Lisa, Samuele and @trygveprestgard.bsky.social presented their talks on modern and fossil micrometeorites, as well as tektites! We are all grateful to have had the opportunity to present at #goldschmidt2025! ☄️ @amgc-vub.bsky.social

Had an incredible time at #Goldschmidt2025! We are delighted, and grateful, to have been able to present our ongoing research on micrometeorites. Here’s a group photo with all the participants! 😊☄️ @amgc-vub.bsky.social

We are happy to end this week with a "family photo" of most FLUX (and related) team members! Despite the Sun being absent, our smiles remained present! A big thanks to Jean-Guillaume Feignon for the photo 😄☄️

It's nearing the end of another productive week! Today's post features @fienjo.bsky.social and Samuele hunting for cosmic spherules, as well as @trygveprestgard.bsky.social measuring micrometeorites using the Raman spectrometer! Included is also an image showing *some* finds made by Sam this week!

Today, among other activities, @fienjo.bsky.social and Julius are diligently searching through sand for tiny cosmic spherules @amgc-vub.bsky.social ! Below are only a couple of the spherules that they have uncovered. Great job! ☄️👍

Hello, we are the FLUX team, a research group at @amgc-vub.bsky.social focused on studying Earth's extraterrestrial intake across the Phanerozoic! We are especially focused on cosmic dust variations and how these can be used to further our understanding of the Solar System and Earth's past climate ☄️

This week in the AMGC lab, @fienjo.bsky.social is searching for micrometeorites from sediment samples, Inigo is sampling ostrich eggs for clumped isotope analysis and Titouan is preparing geothermal granite samples for elemental analysis 🧪☄️🪨🥚

Time & Space! At this years Wetenschapfestival Brussel, our @amgc-vub.bsky.social team presented themes of both archaeology and cosmo chemistry under one roof, presenting samples, creating art, and giving out free (temporary) tattoos 🦷🦴🔥☄️🌘🪨🚀 Well done to the whole team!
