🪸 The @sussexkelp.bsky.social has reported an increase in black sea bream and mussel beds that stretch more than a kilometre, five years since a ban on bottom trawling. One of their video surveys even recorded 92 different species, showing a promising start for marine recovery in the area. 🧵5/6

Sussex IFCA have announced that bottom-trawling will be prohibited from a further 164km² of Sussex seabed (Beachy Head East Marine Conservation Zone (1)) = almost 30% of Sussex Seabed protected from this destructive fishing method - safeguarding marine habitats and protecting threatened species.
