Improvisation is a significantly important element of voice acting - a necessary skill that every actor needs. Julie has developed an approach where actors can use improv as a way into a character called "Improvologue." Come and try it on - ADD to your current approach to acting. 💪 RedScythe.com

Julie is a wonderful director: Nippon Sangoku, Kill Blue, Acendence of a Bookworm, Path To Nowhere, and many more. And she has a particular approach called IMPROVOLOGUE, which has helped many actors. Come try it on - undoubtably, it will add to your current approach. 😤 RedScythe.com

This is the LAST CALL for observer seats in tomorrow's Anime Audition Workshop with @thereubeh.bsky.social ! Information from this session as well as observing the actors work with Reuben will undoubtably be of value and impact to those interested in anime, especially in LA. See you there! 💪

Consider re-framing your audition philosophy from: "I'll show them how well I can fit into the character" to: "I'll show them that I am the character" With your voice, mannerisms, quirks, laughs, accents, and more. ❤️

It's in (half) jest. 😆 However, there is value in slowing down and taking deliberate, intentional, and strategic steps, rather than rushed, hurried, and un-careful ones forward. We're all going to fall into the same trap. Keep up the energy and the passion, but remember to breathe and take it slow.

The mic records what it will record. I just make sure to stand in the right place and set the gain just so. From there, I'm busy talking with Barret--NOT thinking about what I sound like or if I'm saying the words correctly. I'm just *in* the story. CAST people into your story. And talk with them.

I've read books, watched movies, binged TV shows, played a ton of video games, and lived for the last 46 years. Needless to say, I have a HUGE library of characters in my head. Just yesterday, I was having a beer on the rooftops with Barret (FF7) at 3am, talking about the people we used to know.

This is the LAST CALL for tomorrow's Battle Efforts workshop with Brittany Cox! As a director and casting director, Brittany hears a lot of character efforts, in auditions and in sessions. Being guided by her will directly impact your approach when the copy asks for a small, medium, and large. 😤

- vague talent selection - strange terms like "remote film production" - direct offers for $3,000 - what else do you see? Feel free to screenshot the conversation if something like this happens to you and DM it to someone. Or me. I'll happily serve as an extra pair of eyes. 💪

We all want that direct offer for $3,000 to be true and legitimate. But when things look too good to be true, unfortunately they often are. Scammers will prey on that hopeful optimism and you must be realistic about what's in front of you. Some red flags I'm seeing:

Bild

Brittany Cox is an actor - Fortnite, Genshin Impact, Fallout 76, WWE 2K22, and more where she didn't just stand in one place and spoke into a mic. She moved. She shot those arrows, punched those baddies, and jumped over those barriers. Believably. 😤 Come learn from one of the best. RedScythe.com

Your battle efforts must be more than HI-YA and ARGH. 😤 More specific, more physical, more diverse, more believable. Join us as Brittany Cox - actor, director, casting - takes the actors through this battle efforts workshop. Let's put some work in. 💪 RedScythe.com

Here's a line: "I wish I could go back." I could be sitting in front of my son's grave, 6 bottles of soju in, and finally starting to come to terms about that day. How I could have fought to keep him home instead of letting him go to that party three years ago. Which story do you see?

A moment of vulnerability: Through acting, I've discovered that I can be very cruel. Heartless, even. Doesn't mean that I inherently am. Nor that I would choose to act upon those impulses. But I've discovered that I am capable. Have you learned about yourself through a character you've played?

Notes From Casting is a mock-audition session. You'll send in a mock audition mp3 and @soughtaftercast.bsky.social - a casting director - will review it, offer feedback, and direct your performance live in the session, to bring you closer to what they would have liked to hear. Now that's impact. 😤

Confidence comes from things we know. Confidence in grilling that steak because you know precisely how. Confidence in that upcoming test because you know the material well. Confidence in voice acting because you know yourself. Know yourself well. And allow that confidence to speak into the mic.

This is the LAST CALL for tomorrow's lecture with @cuicuivo.bsky.social! Number of auditions and bookings aren't the only things you can keep track of. There are many other data-aspects of VO such as invoices, finances, NDAs, expense categories, and more. Be more informed about your business. 😤

And when that *effortless* characterization happens, 😍. It's very much a sensation - it's something you can *feel.* People will ask "how did that feel?" That's what they mean - did it feel so effortlessly authentic to you and your human character? As if you'd naturally do it that way IRL? ❤️

This is the LAST-CALL for tomorrow's IN-PERSON video game workshop with Maddie Stratton! Pardon my Korean, but she's hella fun. 😆 And she's one hell of a director. Working with good directors is always a good thing and you'll get a lot out of it. 💪 See you there. THREE seats left. RedScythe.com

Cinematic AAA games *sound* different. It's real. Raw. Vulnerable. And the actor cannot hide behind a *voice* or a *performance.* Leave your theatrical masks behind and let's get deeper into your character, your human. 😤

Bild

FOUR seats left! Come work with a fantastic director in the AAA video game space. 😤 Maddie is credited with Ghost of Yōtei, Destiny 2, God of War Ragnarök, Fallout 76, and more. Come see what cinematic, grounded characters feel like - you're going to play one in the future. Right? 💪 RedScythe.com

Obviously, there is no *one* correct answer. My advisement also fluctuates depending on with whom I'm talking and their journeys thus far. But for majority of the time, I think relocating to a VO hub is an advisable execution *after* you've built a network of people who *expects* you to be there.

To this day, I use numerous fictitious characters in my audition approach. I cast them into the story I've created, and exist in that imagined reality for the 7-12 seconds that it takes. Because Tifa is real to me. Gaming is real to me. Do I still have a crush on Tifa? OF COURSE I DO. 😍😆
