This is the LAST CALL for tomorrow's Commercial Workshop with Dave Bisson! Did you know Dave saved six kittens from a burning building? Good work, Dave! Come join this workshop so he can keep doing what he does: to help folks in commercial VO. 🥰 Visit us at RedScythe.com today!

Bild

Why commercial? Because your future agent wants you to be good at it and book them. Why? Because 10% of a five-figure commercial job is a much better reason to sign you than a $250/hr + 2hr-min video game job. See you on Saturday! 💪 RedScythe.com

In commercial, there's only ONE character you play: YOU. And it forces you to really hone in on "the character of you." Which is, as you could imagine, super helpful when it comes to character voice acting. 😏👍 Come tap into your authenticity with Dave Bisson. 💪🔥 RedScythe.com

Hark! This be the final summons for tomorrow's Shakespeare Workshop with the most excellent @shawngann.art ! Come, behold how Shakespearean text may further sharpen one's acting abilities - upon the stage, before the camera, and most assuredly upon the mic. I shall see thee there! ❤️ RedScythe.com

Bild

There are many reasons why Shakespearean works are still being produced today. One of them, imo, is that the text demands from the actor the work required to perform the role well. Without putting the work in, a Shakespearean performance falls flat, appears surface-level, and lacks depth and nuance.

Bild

Join us this Saturday! Observers only! The wonderful director extraordinaire, @shawngann.art , will take our 12 actors through works of Shakespeare! I am of the firm belief that if you can do Shakespeare well, you can do anything well. 😌 Especially acting. 💪 Prithee, come! 😤❤️ RedScythe.com

I've said again and again: actors must experience good stories. Arknights Endfield 1.4 made me cry tonight. Especially @juliagu.bsky.social 's performance as Arcane. Real, grounded, authentic, nuanced, and absolutely stellar. I've always been a huge fan of Julia and she massively delivered. Wow.

This is the LAST CALL for tomorrow's Live-Action Dubbing workshop with the wonderful Jessica Blue! In this workshop, you will work to picture like an actual session. Practical. Impactful. 😤 Jessica is a wonderful director and casting director for numerous dubs. 🔥✨ Come! RedScythe.com

This Saturday, the wonderful Jessica Blue will work with you on live-action dubbing! 😍 This online workshop is TO PICTURE, which means it will replicate an actual recording session. 💪 Come and experience one of the most interesting genres of VO. 😏👍 RedScythe.com

YUP! Best cold read boot camp I ever had was as a reader for callbacks at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Actors, *friends*, were coming through and I had to cold read and perform Shakespeare opposite them. This is easier BUT: Text into eyes, performance out mouth, is a learned skill! You can do it!

Always Has Been meme:
Wait, it's cold reading?!?

This is the LAST CALL for tomorrow's Script Roulette Workshop with @chrishackneyggk.bsky.social ! Cold reading is a crucial necessity in our line of work, along with the idea that you'll see your character when you show up (and not beforehand). Find a script - past audition, a monologue from

Up for a challenge? 😏 Bring a script - past audition, current one, monologue from a play, etc - and put it into the pot. And everyone gets a random one. 😈 Under the excellent direction of Chris Hackney, you’ll gain a character while doing it cold. 🔥 See you there. 💪 RedScythe.com

This is the LAST CALL for tomorrow's Boy Characters Workshop with Kristen McGuire! Not only will you need the vocal qualities of young boy characters, you'll need to know how they see the world. You'll need their attitude, behaviors (we parents know), and expectations. Come learn! 💪😄 RedScythe.com

You'll remember him from Cobra Kai where he played Yoon (😏😆). He's also Moon in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 사. You've heard him on many K-Dramas and in Kpop Demon Hunters. Come exercise your acting muscles! And see the characters as Daniel does. Three seats left! 😤 RedScythe.com

Jen says: Surprise! You're voicing 3 characters! Or 67! How do you make quick choices so your characters feel as compelling as the ones you have hours to create? You'll get random specs and a cozy space space to play and learn why incidental roles are actually

Bild

Jen says: Sometimes you only have a few lines to create a fully lived-in character. Sometimes you're voicing someone else in the same scene. Let's get comfy making quick, creative decisions and turn a session full of surprises from something that makes you anxious to something you look forward to.

Bild

Think about it this way. The first role in THAT project with THAT director will most likely be an incidental/walla role. So that they can see what you're like in the booth (and in the building). Of course be on time, be fun to work with, be kind. And if you could be good at the incidentals/walla,

Bild

Throughout your career, you'll book incidentals and walla. And you will be asked to play multiple characters. That means different voices, yes, but more importantly, it's about flexibility and malleability. Join us this Saturday for a workshop specifically focused on that. 💪

Watch movies. Play video games. Read books. Listen to music. Attend theatre. Live life. So that you can archive these moments that leave some sort of an impact on you, and be able to access it later on when that one particular audition lands in your inbox four years from now. 😌

This is the LAST CALL for tomorrow's Video Game Session Simulation with @voiceofbevins.bsky.social ! The Audition and The Work are two different processes. The core is the same: acting. And it is best if you, the actor, were familiar with how best to apply it in both settings. FOUR seats left!
