DP slot has been opened, and a lot of salary space has been cleared. Definitely a tough decision made for the good of the club. #RCTID
Portland Timbers@timbers.com · 8mo agoGracias por todo Jona 💚 The Portland Timbers have waived forward Jonathan Rodríguez and exercised a buyout of his contract
It's tragic that Jonathan Rodriguez never had a full season in Portland. He had 16g/5a in 30 games during 2024, and only 1g/1a in 7 games last year. That injury was brutal, but Rodriguez never let it fully separate him from the team. #RCTID
They're not going to put Fernandez on the SEI tag because he could return after the World Cup. Based on Grabavoy's prior assertions that the team wants to use a 2/4 model at the start of the year, the Timbers currently have an open U22 slot. #RCTID
@etwgg.bsky.social · 8mo agoDoes the fact they did a buyout + waive mean that the SEI salary slot can go to someone else (Omir, etc) to free up GAM?And does this mean we have either an open DP slot or a U22 slot?
They're still targeting a winger and a central midfielder. It's unknown when those deals will materialize, but the team is still working on getting more players in. #RCTID
Dartastic@dartastic.bsky.social · 8mo agoHas there been anything in regards to potential signings? I feel like we’ve lost more players than we’ve gained so far this offseason, and I haven’t seen any rumors lately coming from Tommy Scoops.
The same injury and surgery that Felipe Mora had in 2022: knee cartilage. #RCTID
Joey A - PDX@joeyandersonpdx.bsky.social · 8mo agoWhat exactly was the injury? Felt like we never got told what happened besides that it was bad?

Very encouraging 60 minutes from Bonetig. Bassett's having a solid outing as well. I don't read too much into preseason, but it's nice to see the 2 big offseason acquisitions positively impacting the game. #RCTID
I would not be opposed to Felipe Mora operating as the number 10 until Da Costa returns. Great field vision (spotting passes) and an ability to ghost into the box. #RCTID
Go read the piece for the best evaluation of the transfer in one place. But I’d like to underscore Jeremy’s point here about the Timbers finally making the most of the Cashfer and getting an MLS player that can contribute from day one. Ned operates differently from Gavin. #RCTID
Jeremy Peterman𓅪@jeremypeterman.bsky.social · 9mo agoOne down, one to go. #RCTID
Just realized I forgot a *crucial* bit in this article. Congratulations to Cole Bassett for being the first ever Portland Timbers signing. #RCTID

Defender Joedrick Pupe has been loaned to Belgian side Sint-Truidense V.V. through June 2026 with an option to purchase. Good luck Joedrick 🤝 📰 | whitecapsfc.com/news/vwfc-loan-pupe #VWFC

I thought Larraz was the only Colorado midfielder that was gettable this offseason. Bassett was untouchable in my mind. What a signing. Box-to-box demon who put together a Best XI-caliber season in 2024. #RCTID
Tom Bogert@tombogert.bsky.social · 9mo ago🚨🇺🇸 BREAKING: The Portland Timbers are finalizing deal to sign American midfielder Cole Bassett from the Colorado Rapids, per sources. Rapids to receive $2.65m + add-ons to take total potential fee to $3.7m. Club retains sell-on %. Big addition for Timbers. www.nytimes.com/athletic/700...
Per my calculations, he'll be a U22 until he turns 26. That's the start of the 2027/28 season. #RCTID
Chris VanOchten@greener105th.bsky.social · 9mo agoAnd still on a U-22 contract, right?
Per verified source: This is pretty spot-on for what the new Sounders home shirt will look like. I’m told it looks better in person, so don't hate on it too much. It’s expected to come out the week of 2/9
Frank MacDonald@frankmsounders.bsky.social · 9mo agoSo this is a 'guessed' design. Bookmark it; in a couple weeks comes the first 'leaks.'

2026 will be a banner year for soccer in North America. The World Cup is on American soil. And a team from the state of Oregon will be celebrating the 100th birthday of their beloved home ground. Cheers. #RCTID
2025 was my third year with Cascadia FC, so I'd like to share my favorite pieces that I've written to close out the year. Let's begin with a eulogy to a player that got what he wanted but quickly reaped what he sowed. #RCTID
There Is No Need To Be Upset
It’s December 11, 2021. A man is inside Providence Park, and he’s in a place where he shouldn’t be: the North End. One week ago, he stood behind the drums in section 106 and boldly made a prediction t...

He can play a similar role to Mosquera, which is good for squad rotation purposes. Having a clear second-choice option at RB who doesn't represent a massive downgrade is a good floor-raising move. #RCTID
Chris VanOchten@greener105th.bsky.social · 10mo agoI have a hunch this represents moving JDM at a profit. Seems like a lot for a backup, no?. #RCTID
