“Let’s be clear. Return is not safe and it is not viable now.” – @intlpresident.msf.org One year ago, world leaders at the UN promised a safe, sustainable plan for the Rohingya. Those words have not resulted in change. And now, dangerous proposals to return refugees to Myanmar are being pushed.

Aid funding cuts are closing clinics in Sudan. That doesn't mean less patients. That means people are pushed to reach medical care further away, on more expensive and dangerous journeys. It doesn't have to be this way. Sudan needs the world to act now, not later.
It’s nearly 100 days since the Ebola disease outbreak was declared in DRC, and communities aren't receiving adequate support to curb the spread. “Treatment centres remain essential for saving lives, but this response needs more than extra beds.” -@intlpresident.msf.org

Funding gaps have meant that host communities in Adré, Chad, are excluded from food distributions, leading to malnutrition among children and pregnant women. International donors must scale up funding and include host communities in aid.

One of my first assignments with MSF was in the Cité Soleil neighbourhood of Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince. Today, I’m concerned that people there face risking their lives to seek medical care or go without, given the violence.

The Cité Soleil neighbourhood in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, is a prime example of the barriers to accessing healthcare.

Across Palestine, the cumulative effect of Israel’s actions on Palestinians since 7 October 2023 is clear: they have eroded the ability for Palestinians to live a dignified, healthy life. My opinion piece for Al Jazeera:
The number one health issue in Palestine is the Israeli occupation | MSF
Since October 2023, Israel's attacks on Palestinians hinders their ability to live a dignified, healthy life. A shift in policy is depserately needed.

My colleagues in Gaza are continuing to provide specialised rehabilitation care to patients, despite supply restrictions. I know that our late colleague Abood, my friend and the cornerstone of @msf.org physiotherapy work in Gaza, would have been alongside, innovating. I’m glad to see his legacy.
Complex trauma wounds need specialised care, including rehabilitation. Our colleagues in Gaza are adapting their physical therapy work because of supply restrictions. Mohammed Alyazji tells us about the alternative materials being used to meet patients’ needs ⬇️
Have you heard of the new drug lenacapavir? It’s nearly 100% effective at preventing HIV. The problem: It’s not available everywhere, and it is far too expensive. Let’s change that: Two shots. $40. Everywhere.
During my visit to Darfur, Sudan, I met @msf.org colleagues at Zalingei hospital, where drone strikes regularly occur just outside the walls. During mass casualty events, they work under intense pressure to save lives. The world must not look away from the conflict in Sudan.
I visited Zalingei Teaching hospital in Central Darfur, Sudan, earlier this month. The hospital had been bombed and looted and I was proud to see the work that our teams had achieved in restoring healthcare to people – something that should never have been lost.
In 2016, the international community reaffirmed that the wounded and sick, as well as those who care for them, must be protected. That attacks on healthcare continue to occur 10 years on is a failure of political will.
Joint call by the ICRC WHO and MSF for states to uphold Resolution 2286 | MSF
On the 10th Anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 2286, the ICRC, WHO, and MSF call on states to uphold the protection of medical care in armed conflict.

Ten years after the UN Security Council adopted resolution 2286, reaffirming protection of medical facilities and personnel, attacks on healthcare still continue. That attacks still occur is a failure of political will. https://www.msf.org/joint-call-icrc-who-and-msf-states-uphold-resolution-2286
10 years ago today, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 2286. Over 80 Member States committed to protect medical humanitarian work. Yet @msf.org is sharing the same message from 2016: 🔴 Stop bombing hospitals. 🔴 Stop bombing health workers. 🔴 Stop bombing patients.
Three words to describe three years of war in Sudan: catastrophe, atrocities, impunity. These words don’t just describe a ‘humanitarian situation’, they are the daily reality of people and communities — and this continues because of political failure. #TalkAboutSudan

Women in Somalia often face “triple delays” in accessing healthcare; a delay in seeking care, in reaching care, and in receiving care. These delays can have deadly consequences.

In 2014, I visited eastern DRC, where @msf.org teams were treating sleeping sickness - the only available treatment was a drug so toxic it killed 1 in 20 patients. In 2026 I'm so proud that, thanks to @dndi.org, patients can be cured with a single dose of a groundbreaking new oral drug, acoziborole.
The full-scale war in Ukraine continues to empty communities, pushing people into displacement shelters. It’s heartening to see that @MSF has stepped up presence in shelters through mobile clinics, providing people with some care during a harsh winter:

More than 20 years ago, the world mobilised for Darfur, Sudan. Today, world leaders shouldn’t look away from the plight of El Fasher. We cannot let El Fasher become a milestone of horrific violence. Read more from me and @msf.org on @aljazeera.com:

Horror is unfolding in El Fasher, Sudan. People are seemingly trapped in the city, and @msf.org teams 60 km away are receiving malnourished people among those who have managed to escape. Civilians must be urgently protected, and safe escape routes must be provided.

I’ll never forget the feeling of returning to Tigray, Ethiopia, at the end of the war in 2022, to restart services around Shire and Sheraro. At that time, people would wait for more than a day to see a doctor.
@msf.org is sharing shocking statistics about the need for trauma care in Port-au-Prince, Haiti – not a new feature since I was there in 2010 but staggering in scale today. Between Jan and June, our teams assisted 2,600 survivors of sexual violence:
