It is not responsible stewardship of a language or framework community to collectively invalidate the hard work of that same community and abdicate responsibility rather than providing a clear vision for the future.

On the list of potentially very bad ideas: Travel rugged DDR mats that I could get 2 cleanly into a checked bag, modular to where you can connect all of it on site with pogo pins or something. Would need to figure out electronics and 3d printing among other things to do it though.

The more I work in Rails the more I'm convinced ActiveRecord is actively harmful at scale, and at no point does it create a designated off ramp to help teams isolate their domains successfully. Telling folks to learn the framework better is at best a cop out and at worst engineering malpractice.

It's amusing looking back on yourself in high school and recognizing the delta between the social group you _thought_ you were in and the one you were _actually_ in, and finding peace with that.
