I blame Dougie I’ll bully you into calling congress, but I’ll also write you a script I believe in you I hope Jessica Berman doesn’t think about me as much as I think about her

There is a player on the LA Queens, Brittany Apgar, who has a limb difference and traveled back to Illinois from receiving her first ever batting prosthetic *today* and is 3-for-3 in her first game playing with one. Incredibly cool.

one of the babies at work asked me how I have time for everything and I smiled and said "oh that's very simple, I absolutely do not have time for everything" and I think I have now officially transformed into a sage old yew tree

I also understand asking the question! I used to push for policies from all leagues but we are in a different time. I’ve noticed the shift in how trans advocates are moving within the consultation space too; they’re still consulting BTS but there are much less explicit pushes for policy.

I need people to understand that for the last half decade that there’s been an ecosystem of trans folks in sports media who have worked unpaid to serve as experts for context, sources and educators on what it’s like for trans athletes, in hopes of potential bylines and contacts. That’s dried up.

I hate sounding like a conspiracy person but there’s a reason that this Sophie Cunningham thing is on like day 7 of discourse and how there’s absolutely very little trans staff writers driving the news coverage of it.

I work with a solo practitioner, literally no job is beneath me. but holy cow, I’ve spent all afternoon fighting with a scanner that is currently withholding two PDFs from me and this, this is beneath me (it’s not, it’s just going to make me cry)

just a moment of self-promotion, one of the things I've pitched over the years is a specific league/supporter liaison. someone who can make visiting all cities a priority and get feedback from supporters. clearly she doesn't have time for these meetings since she doesn't have time for the players.

team and especially with expansion that has made it physically impossible to get to every team (there's the rage blackout, girl what are you talking about!?). but she makes it to most teams every season. she does a "market visit" where she has a closed door meeting with players.

I forgot that my mom sent me a text this morning about the WPBL saying "who knew? I think they play on MLB dot TV" and I forwarded her @thefrankiedlc.news' piece about the WPBL and said "oh they're actually on ESPN, and here's more information" because that's nicer than "I did, I knew"

okay this was obviously a fucking stupid comment of hers and it should make everyone mad and also, it's doing one of my favorite things and inspiring people to bring up stories from the early days and that is just the best. I love when people share their lore from when we weren't so connected.

says that the league has only been independent since 2022, says that some people have revisionist history when it comes to where the league is in its growth cycle, uses that as a reminder that in many ways it's really just our fifth season.

Ty's gonna see my berman thread and be like "ah, so my wife is mad at the NWSL again" and once again I'll have to tell them to stop reading my personal and private skeets

this also really stood out to me. she credits these "market visits" as being crucially important to learning about the players and their relationship with the league, but also acknowledges that it's physically impossible for her to get to all markets, so with expansion it'll be even harder.
