I'm writing another short piece on the history of the term "WirtschaftsflĂŒchtling/economic refugee," and hitting the digitized press archives. It's wild that the first time it appears in the FAZ it is to *criticize* deportation. This headline is from January 1966.

Pavlos Roufos@proufos.bsky.social · 2y agoIn the city of Karlsruhe it seems like AfD members put these "deportation tickets" in the mailboxes of people with migration background. Among other things we read "only remigration can save Germany". The ominous date on the ticket corresponds to the election day, February 23d 2025.
