Robert, EU OS project lead, has met yesterday Dirk Schrödter, Minister for Digitalization and Head of the State Chancellery Schleswig-Holstein (SH), in Brussels. SH will organise a public tender for a #Linux OS. To be seen to which extend #EU_OS can be reflected in the tender specification! 🤔

Thanks to our network of supporters, #EU_OS benefits from early access to a study from the Commission on the in-house use of Linux on the workspace. It is from 2005 and was revealed through an request for access to documents.

The #US imposes 30% of #UStariffs to the #EuropeanUnion. According to Politico, the Commission is ready to retaliate. EU OS believes that a European response with Tariffs on US BigTech services (or all services that face trade deficits) would make so much more sense if the EU had alternatives. 1/2

The #EuropeanCommission supports multi-country projects with a programme: European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (EDIC). On 13/06 already, France mentioned the "Digital Commons" #EDIC currently in the making, which in principle could also support a sovereign operating system such as #EU_OS. 1/2
