Award winning author, book reader, competitive sports person, outdoors enthusiast, coffee snob, mechanical engineer when I have to be.

Yesterday was the last day of my corporate job. Monday I start full time as a writer. Tons of cool events on the way for the launch of Fruits of Our Labor (Aug 25th), another novel in edits, another novel in draft, and a handful of short stories I'll be querying. It's. Gonna. Be. Awesome.

Tidal released a new anti-AI music policy, and although it could definitely go further, I'm still pretty excited to see it. It's a signal there's a shift in the conversation happening. If my stance wasn't clear, fuck AI.

Four weeks of broken hand recovery, and damn it felt good to get back outside. Tons of fitness and strength lost, but I'm pretty familiar with the cycle of injury and recovery at this point. Exercise and outdoor time is so tied to creativity for me that I really start to flounder without it.

Started laying words on my next book. First draft of the first chapter done! Now I stare at it and poke holes to make sure I have a good foundation. This one is slated for trad pub and will be kept under wraps for a while, but I'm vibrating with excitement!

TRANSITION RELEASE DAY Transition is a standalone prequel novella in The Narrator Cycle. Equal parts sharp-edged and darkly humorous, it's a great way to enter the universe, or can be read after Transcendence to add depth. Available through all major retailers, print and ebook.

Just seen that “AI is punk” take and… gosh. Was not aware that “counter-culture” in 2026 meant participating in a trillion dollar industry pushed by the world’s most valuable companies and the world’s most powerful nation.

I'm live reading a short story this Friday as part of a weekend long event over on Substack. Come say hi! Since it's live, you do have to have an account and the app (lame). BUT there is a ton of great fiction happening over there. Friday at 6pm MT open.substack.com/pub/ipatters...

There Will Come No Rains

Can’t you feel it? This is hell. My brothers, we are in hell already. God has measured us, and found us wanting. There is no salvation here.
