I fully believe taste is heading this way as a direct reaction to generative AI. Sincerely-performed incompetence, less-than-perfect anatomy and color theory, jittery hand-drawn animation, unusual and unoptimized stylistic choices. It'll become the new standard of meaningful art.

If you're saddened by Eric's passing, please celebrate his life by supporting animation. Go see Wildwood or Forgotten Island. Buy Coyote Vs. Acme. I know times are tough, so if you don't feel you have the money, then speak loudly and proudly about how much animation means to you.
Wildwood is a movie completely unfettered, in every single regard. It shoots for the stars and becomes them. A story that leaves no leaf of itself unturned and yet leaves a world that could launch 1000 stories. I will be watching this movie the rest of my life to appreciate every little bit I can!

Wildwood is the best animated movie I’ve seen in years. Incredible craftsmanship aside, as is standard for Laika, the story and themes of the film were shockingly mature in a way that didn’t talk down to the viewer. And it was EPIC too. Genuinely had me on the edge of my seat! Highly recommended.

Thinking more about this - AI is also going to be limited by its profitability. As an “art” tool, it sounds too good to be possible - because it is. Interest is drying up, and the ouroboros of billionaires funding AI has limits. Eventually, AI needs to be profitable… which will make it EXPENSIVE.

It was also a union dub, too, which added to my desire to do it. After I found out who they really were, I was frankly a tad embarrassed.
Yyyyup. Had a small part in the English dub of a live-action Happy Science film. Didn't know who they were at the time. Sure, the plot description sounded a tad eccentric, but frankly, that describes *a lot* of Japanese movies/TV shows (and indeed, that's generally part of their appeal as an actor).
This is more common than you’d sadly think. In the anime voice acting sphere, there is a series of animated films made by an actual cult known as Happy Science. A lot of household name actors have voiced in these; I doubt many of them knew that when they recorded. Sometimes it’s just a paycheck.
