The absurd decision to leave Wheeler in to throw pitches 102 through 116 on a 15-pitch at-bat with four (FOUR) pitches in the strike zone, eventually giving up a hit, looks pretty dopey.

I can 200 percent understand why they wouldn’t want to do it, and I suspect they never shall, but I think a Tom Holland/Zendaya unfussy romcom (NOT the romcom B-plot of a superhero movie) would make a gazillion dollars and might just save the world from despair.
I will never understand the thinking of publicists who send obviously inappropriate pitches en masse (an interview subject for a show that does not interview people) and are ticked off when they are ignored. Like … no, I cannot spend 30 seconds politely responding to spam. Sorry?

They just look terrible. They are almost always much too busy, as this is. I look at this and feel like I would have a panic attack from how cramped it is. Everyone is wearing wide, bland smiles like pod people. Very much on purpose, no real ad agency would make this, because it’s ugly!

The other day in a PCHH meeting, we were discussing the futures list and somebody mentioned MUTINY, and I said, “Which one is that?” And somebody said, “Jason Statham. But I don’t remember the theme.” And I said, “Oh, right, right. He’s on a ship with an axe.” And they said, “Oh, right, right.”
Kruk was saying something interesting tonight, which is that the current Phillies are kind of … chill. Competitive, but chill. And when you see Arraez kinda wiggle and bump and hip thrust and react to everything, you do think maybe that’s good energy for them to add.
Some of the Phillies have replaced the DJ-ing celebration of getting a hit with some kind of … nip … tweaking … situation? I am uncomfortable.
I’d be interested in the stats on guys hitting homers in their first MLB game (as Pinckney, the Nats’ new guy, just did). Just on the Phillies, just this year, I believe Rincones and Felix Reyes did this, too. (Good job, rookie. I’m glad your folks were there.)
Man, the Nats color commentator has to be among the worst ones working. He was the one yesterday taking the owners’ side about not developing the team, and now he’s reacting to the Nats falling behind by talking exclusively about how bad the Phillies are doing. Just a clown suit.
“I don’t think you have anxiety, but I’d be happy to refer you to somebody who can help you lose some weight.” -Doctor who specialized in anxiety who I came to because I had such bad anxiety. (He thought the underlying problem was that I didn’t have a boyfriend. Thus this advice.)

Feel free to be upset by the costs of this, but if it’s not a familiar experience, please also think about how you would feel if you saw military patrols in your neighborhood when you walked your dog, went to the store, went out for the evening, etc.

Every morning, the dog spends a good amount of time exactly like this: ears up, still, attentive. It took me a while to realize he’s continuing his daily process of gathering the news: What birds are around? How’s the weather? What can one smell on the wind?

The Nats booth did a whole little run about how it’s misguided for the fans to blame the owners for not doing anything to build a good team, because you have to understand they’re just waiting until the time is right.
