Peeps, as many of you know a few years ago @ijpsjournal.bsky.social launched a new series of occasional papers, Primers in the Plant Sciences: (1/n) www.journals.uchicago.edu/doi/full/10.... #PlantScience

Folks, FTR this is a breach of publication ethics. @ijpsjournal.bsky.social has a policy that forbids it and we are nowhere near the only ones.

I've talked to a few journal editors who are concerned about similar problems re: anonymous reviewers. If a peer reviewer wants a little help & feeds your unpublished submission into an AI system, they've just shared your proprietary work & broken confidentiality. A nightmare to think about

I completely agree. I think primers can present or synthesize novel perspectives on a topic while also presenting knowledge in an accessible way. I'm grateful that @ijpsjournal.bsky.social agrees and publishes the primer series. I'd love to see other journals follow suit.
