In the dark of the night, in front of a campfire, Rumi leans down and gives Zoey a kiss on her cheek.

"She leans down carefully, giving Zoey room to move away. Zoey wouldn’t dare at this point, but remains frozen. Satisfied that she doesn’t, Rumi presses her lips on the underside of her cheek, close to the corner of her mouth. She lingers there for a moment, and Zoey feels her eyes drift shut.

A simple gesture, a simple moment that makes Zoey almost pass out from gay panic.

Yet, there’s something underlying in it. She sees it when Rumi pulls away. She has that sad look in her eyes again, and she doesn’t hide it this time.

Rumi whispers, 'We’ll be back.'

Then she’s walking away, leaving Zoey to deal with the weight of it all alone. "

Mira's long hair is hot pink, tied up by two high ponytails. She has a hack paint job that’s all over her bolted-up, metallic arms, chest, and legs. Paint strokes and splashes of a skin color litter her body, interrupted by scrapes and overall wear of whatever adventure she's found herself in. Most of the paint left intact is on her face, but some of the paint is chipping off in the top right corner of her head.

Rumi is a human with cybernetic modifications that glow faintly in blue. The modifications look like wires, starting underneath somewhere under her bright purple hair that’s wrapped tight in a long braid in the shape of a mohawk.

This board is much larger than her base hoverboard. It consists of a huge, transformed, fortified sail in a spiky star shape and hexagonal turtle shell patterns on it. A gukwa pattern adorns the middle spike, and faint "wires" of additional spikes surround the sail. Instead of only 3 thrusters, there are now 10 thrusters, including a thruster in the shape of a turtle mouth blasting power out of its mouth. The handle still has a tiny turtle embellishment.

Just Rumi. Watching the obvious glee on her face as if the universe itself is wrapped around her.
Well, maybe it is to Mira. There's something about the way Mira looks at Rumi when she doesn't think anyone is watching. A softened, yet pained stare that always somehow meshes beautifully together.
Maybe, Zoey thinks, that's just how she loves. At a distance, and unspoken. The pain from an artificial heart grows, but it's never known. Perhaps not even to Mira herself.
